Introduction:

Mobile phones have become an important part of everyday life for communication, information, and entertainment. However, excessive use of mobile phones has led to the growing issue of mobile addiction. Many individuals spend a large amount of time on their phones, which can cause distractions and affect their concentration. Mobile addiction may also influence productivity and daily activities. Therefore, it is important to understand how dependent people are on their phones. Studying mobile addiction helps to examine the level of mobile phone addiction among individuals through a survey.

Objective:

To understand the underlying phenomenon of “Mobile Addiction Survey”

Literature review:

1. Impact of Mobile Phone Use on Students

A study by James A. Roberts and Meredith E. David (2013) examined the relationship between mobile phone use and students’ academic performance. It was found that excessive mobile phone usage can negatively affect academic performance and increase anxiety among students. It also suggested that frequent phone use may reduce concentration and overall life satisfaction.

2. Activities Leading to Mobile Phone Addiction

Research conducted by James A. Roberts, Chris Pullig, and Chris Manolis (2014) explored different activities that contribute to mobile phone addiction among college students. It was found that activities such as texting, social media use, and entertainment applications are major factors leading to excessive mobile phone use and addictive behavior.

Data collection:

To understand the underlying issues following five questions were framed to be answered on Likert scale Question:

1. I use my phone too much.

2. My phone distracts me often.

3. I depend on my phone a lot.

4. My phone affects my focus.

5. I should reduce my phone use.

A Google form was prepared and our friends from KBS were requested to fill the form which had linear scale 1 for strongly disagree and 5 for strongly agree, the data was downloaded from excel sheet, 100 people were surveyed and for every question mean, SD, SE and T-Stat was calculated.
