Introduction:

Social media is an important part of students’ daily life today. Among many platforms, the Instagram app is very popular among college students. Students use it to share photos, watch reels, and communicate with friends. However, spending too much time on Instagram can create distractions. It can reduce students’ concentration on studies and affect their time management. This research studies how Instagram distraction affects college students based on survey responses.

 

Objective:

To understand the underlined issues of reasons of Students are less focused on study due to Instagram Distractions.

 

Literature Review:

Masrom et al. (2023) investigated the impact of excessive Instagram use on students’ academic studies using a two-stage SEM and artificial neural network approach. Their study, published in Interactive Learning Environments, explores the complex relationship between Instagram usage patterns and academic performance, providing insights through advanced statistical methods. The findings contribute to understanding the nuanced effects of social media on students’ educational endeavors.

The study by Moreton and Greenfield (2022) delves into university students’ perspectives on the influence of Instagram on mental wellbeing. Through qualitative analysis, the research explores how Instagram usage affects the mental health of students. The findings contribute valuable insights into the intricate relationship between social media, particularly Instagram, and the mental wellbeing of individuals in the university context. This study enhances our understanding of the nuances surrounding social media’s impact on the psychological aspects of university students.

 

Data Collection:

To understand the underline issues following 5 questions where framed to be answered on Likert scale. A google form was prepared and our friends from KBS where requested to fill the form which had linear scale 1 for strongly disagree and 5 for strongly agree. The data was downloaded in excel sheet 100 persons where survey for every question Mean, Standard Deviation (SD), Standard Error (SE) and T-stat were calculated.

Conclusion:

People feel constantly hooked to using Instagram.

People actively follow educational pages on Instagram.

People experience significant distraction from Instagram while studying.

People are neutral regarding the habit of checking Instagram during lectures.

People spend an excessive amount of time on Instagram.
