Introduction:
Sports equipment plays a vital role in promoting physical activity and skill development among college students. However, many institutions struggle with inadequate availability, poor maintenance, and limited variety, leading to low satisfaction levels. These issues hinder participation in sports, affect performance, and discourage healthy lifestyles. A targeted study can reveal these underlying problems to guide improvements in equipment management.
Objective of the study:
To understand the underlying issues affecting student satisfaction with the provided sports equipment in college.
Literature Review:
Rosete, E. N., Candelon, Z. G., (2022). Sports facilities and equipment: Availability and students’ satisfaction in the physical education classes. This study identifies available sports facilities and equipment in PE classes at Sultan Kudarat State University and assesses student satisfaction. Objectives: (1) determine availability, (2) evaluate satisfaction levels, (3) suggest strategies for better facilities. Using random sampling and Google Forms surveys with 30 Bachelor of PE students, findings show general availability but shortages in aquatics, athletics, baseball, and basketball. Satisfaction positively impacts performance. Recommendations urge checking, upgrading equipment, and developing alternatives for effective PE classes.
Sedai, S. P., & Shahi, S. J. (2025). Enhancing Sports Facilities and Strengthening Physical Education Programs in Public Colleges. In this paper the author states that engagement in physical activity boosts cognitive function, attention, behavior, and academic achievement in college students. Nepal’s public colleges in Chitwan face challenges in sports infrastructure, facilities, coaching, budgets, and female participation. This survey-based study of 21 PE personnel and 21 players used questionnaires and chi-square analysis. Findings show satisfactory equipment but gaps in coaching, incentives, facilities, and gender equity. Recommendations include more intramurals, better incentives, expanded facilities, improved coaching, curriculum integration, and strategies for female engagement.
Data Collection:
To understand the underlying issues of student satisfaction with the provided sports equipment in college following 5 questions framed on likert scale (5-point scale). A google from was framed with linear scale, 1-5. Data was doded as 5 for Strongly Agree, 4 for Agree, 3 for Neutral, 2 for Disagree, 1 for Strongly Disagree. 104 students of ITM were surveyed and data was downloaded as Excel sheet. For each question mean, standard deviation, standard error and t-stat was calculated.

Where t-stat is between 1.96 and -1.96 people/students are neutral, when t-stat is greater than 1.96, student agree to this statement. When t-stat is less than 1.96, people disagree to the statement.
Conclusion:
People are neutral about easily getting sports equipment from the sports department. People are neutral about sports equipment being well-maintained and regularly checked. People are neutral about old or damaged sports equipment being replaced on time. People are neutral about the college providing a good variety of sports equipment for different games.
