Title: Comparison of Four Preferred Social Media Networking Apps: Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn

Author: Pratiksha Tanavade

Introduction: This report explores the popularity and usage of four prominent social media networking apps: Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn. Facebook is known for its wide-ranging social connections and multimedia sharing, Instagram excels in photo and video sharing with an aesthetic focus, X (Twitter) is the hub for real-time updates and public discourse, and LinkedIn serves as the professional networking platform.

Objective: To find out all are same or any one of them is different between the preferred social media networking apps among the participants.

Data Collection: 20 students of ITM Business School were surveyed. They rated these apps on a scale of 1 to 10 via a Google Form, with 1 representing the lowest preference and 10 the highest. Following the data collection, the ANOVA: Single Factor test was then performed to compare the means of the ratings across the four networking social media apps.

The hypotheses for the test are:

Null Hypothesis (H₀): There is no significant difference in the average ratings of Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn.

Alternative Hypothesis (H₁): There is a significant difference in the average ratings of at least one pair of Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn.

If the P-value is less than the significance level (commonly 0.05), we reject the null hypothesis and accept alternate hypothesis and if P-value is more than the significance level, we reject the alternate hypothesis and accept null hypothesis.

Conclusion: Since the P-value of 0.0014, which is less than the 0.05 significance level, we Reject the Null Hypothesis (H₀), indicating a statistically significant difference in the ratings of at least one pair of social media apps. Therefore, the Alternative Hypothesis (H₁) is accepted, indicating that preferences vary among Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn.
