A Comparative Statistical Analysis of Customer Ratings for Selected Cake Shops

Introduction:
Theobroma, Merwans, Sweet County, and Ribbon and Balloons represent a diverse mix of bakery brands in Mumbai catering to different consumer segments. Theobroma is known for its premium quality desserts, while Merwans is popular for its affordability and wide accessibility. Sweet County focuses on variety and customization, whereas Ribbon and Balloons offers a broad range of cakes with convenience and reasonable pricing.
Objective:
To analyze the ratings of selected cake shop using one‑way ANOVA in order to determine whether significant differences exist among them.
Literature review:
1.Rivas, A. E., Rivas, G. G., Iran, J. M. A., and Balagno, J. A. (2025) examined customer satisfaction in bakery businesses through survey-based analysis. Findings highlighted that product quality, pricing, and service efficiency are key determinants influencing customer satisfaction and long-term customer loyalty.
2. Kumar, V., and Shah, D. (2018) analyzed the impact of service quality dimensions in the bakery café industry. Results indicated that reliability, responsiveness, and pricing significantly affect customer satisfaction and repeat purchase behavior.
Data collection:
The data for this study was collected using primary research methods via a structured survey distributed through Google Forms. A total of 39 responses were recorded. Participants were asked to rate the cake shops— Theobroma, Merwans, Sweet County, and Ribbon and Balloons —on a scale of 1 to 10 based on factors such as taste, pricing, quality, and overall customer satisfaction, and a One-Way ANOVA was calculated on the compiled data.

Conclusion:
As calculated, F (1.00641) is less than F crit (2.664504). Accept H0, meaning Merwans = SweetCounty = Ribbons Balloons= Theobroma
