Introduction: Noise pollution is one of the major environmental problems in urban areas. It is mainly caused by traffic, vehicle horns, construction activities, and industrial operations. Excessive noise can negatively affect human health, causing stress, sleep disturbances, and reduced concentration. Understanding people’s perception of noise pollution helps identify its impact on daily life and community well-being.
Objective: To examine the level of noise pollution experience by people in their residential areas. Analyze how traffic noise affects people’s daily comfort and sleep. Understand the disturbance caused by vehicle horns and traffic sounds and To evaluate the overall perception of noise pollution among respondents.
Literature Review: Noise pollution is a significant environmental issue in various urban cities due to the increasing rate of urbanization and traffic flow. According to various studies, it is identified that exposure to high levels of noise may result in health issues. The researchers have identified that traffic noise is one of the major causes of environmental noise pollution.
According to previous studies, it is identified that the use of vehicle horns and movement of vehicles result in disturbing the peace of mind of the public. According to various environmental studies, it is identified that the public living in such areas face more annoyance. Hence, through surveys regarding public perception, the level of noise pollution can be identified.
Data collection: For our problem we have choosen the topic “noise pollution”. We have framed 5 questions to be asked on Likert scale. Google form was framed with linear option. 1 as strongly disagree and 5 as strongly agree for each que. The google form was personally shared with our classmates, collegues, family, friends and relatives in confidence after surveying 100 people, responses were downloaded in excel sheet. For each question Mean, Standard Deviation, Standard Error and T stat were calculated. The questions/statement are as follows:
