Introduction

Adequate sleep is essential for maintaining cognitive performance and academic productivity among students. Many students experience irregular sleep schedules due to academic pressure, assignments, and personal habits. Poor sleep patterns may reduce concentration during lectures, disturb study schedules, and affect overall academic performance. Therefore, it is important to study how sleep patterns influence students’ academic activities.

Objective

The objective of this study is to analyze the impact of sleep habits on students’ academic concentration and study performance.

Literature Review

1. Sleep and Cognitive Performance

According to Walker (2017), adequate sleep improves memory consolidation, concentration, and learning ability among students.

2. Sleep Deprivation and Academic Performance

According to Hershner & Chervin (2014), insufficient sleep among college students significantly reduces attention span and academic performance.

Data Collection

For this study, a survey was conducted using Google Forms with a Likert Scale (1–5) where: 1 = Strongly Disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Neutral, 4 = Agree, 5 = Strongly Agree. The questionnaire was distributed among 104 students and their responses were collected.

Conclusion

The findings indicate that sleep patterns play a significant role in students’ academic performance. Students who experience lack of sleep report lower concentration during lectures and difficulties maintaining consistent study schedules. Adequate sleep contributes to better focus and improved academic performance. Therefore, maintaining healthy sleep habits is essential for students to achieve optimal academic outcomes.
