Introduction :
Statistics is an important subject in academic programs, but many students find it difficult due to complex formulas and mathematical concepts. This survey was conducted to identify the main challenges students face while learning statistics. The questionnaire focuses on understanding students difficulties with formulas, mathematical skills, and practice in statistics. The aim of the study is to analyze students experience and the reasons behind their difficulty in the subject.
Objective :
To understand the underlying issue of the difficulty faced in understanding statistics.
Literature Review :
1. Challenges in Understanding Statistics:
The comprehension of statistical concepts has long been a topic of investigation, with numerous scholars highlighting the difficulties faced by learners (Smith, A. 2020).
2. Difficulties in Statistical Comprehension:
Statistical understanding has received significant attention. Johnson and Williams (2019) explain the difficulties people face when trying to understand statistical concepts (Johnson, R. L., & Williams, K. A. 2019).
Data Collection :
For our problem we frame following 5 questions to be asked on Likert scale.
Q.1 I found statistics difficult.
Q.2 I struggled with statistics formulas.
Q.3 I lacked math skills for statistics.
Q.4 I needed more practice in statistics.
Q.5 I felt nervous while solving problems.
The Google form was framed with linear options one as strongly disagree and strongly agree for each question. The google form was personally shared with our classmates and colleagues in confidence. After surveying 100 persons responses were downloaded in excel sheet. For each question Mean, Standard Deviation, Standard Error and Z(T Stat) were calculated.
