Introduction of the Problem:
The reservation system in education helps marginalized communities by providing admission benefits, marks relaxation, and financial support. While it improves access and diversity, some believe it creates unfair advantages over merit-based admissions. This study explores the impact of reservation on higher education, examining both its benefits and challenges in ensuring equal opportunities.
Objective:
To analyze the impact of reservation policies on higher education by examining their role in admissions, academic benefits, financial support, diversity in learning environments, and perceptions of fairness in the admission process.

Reservation Policies and Higher Education Access in India

Gupta (2017) discusses how reservation policies have played a transformative role in increasing access to higher education for marginalized communities in India. The study highlights that affirmative action through reservations has led to a substantial rise in enrolment rates among Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC), particularly in public universities. However, the research also points out that while reservations have helped bridge the gap in educational opportunities, disparities in primary and secondary education quality still pose challenges. Many students from reserved categories enter higher education with weaker academic foundations, necessitating additional support systems such as remedial coaching and mentorship programs to ensure their academic success.

Impact of Reservation on Enrolment Rates in Higher Education

Rao and Desai (2018) examine the direct impact of reservation policies on student enrolment rates in higher education institutions. Their study, based on enrolment data from multiple universities, finds that reserved category students have seen a significant increase in representation, particularly in fields like engineering, medicine, and social sciences. However, the research also identifies regional disparities, with urban institutions showing higher success rates in implementing reservation policies effectively compared to rural areas. The paper argues that while reservation policies have improved access, additional measures, such as financial assistance and academic support programs, are crucial to addressing the retention and graduation rates of students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Data Collection:
For the above problem we had framed 5 questions on Likert Scale and we approached 101 Kohinoor Business School Students with the help of google form with the answers strongly agree, agree, neutral, disagree, and strongly disagree and they were coded as 5,4,3,2,1 and the hypothesis mean (X) is 3.

An analysis of survey data from 100 students, utilizing mean, standard deviation, standard error, and Z-scores, revealed that all Z-scores fell within the statistically neutral range (-1.96 to 1.96). This suggests that most of the respondents held neutral view on whether they see huge impact of reservation in education system
Conclusion:
-
Most students remain neutral about they got admission due to reservation

-
Most students remain neutral about they got marks benefit due to reservation quota

-
Most students remain neutral about they got fee benefits due to reservation quota

-
Most students remain neutral about the reservation create diverse learning environment.

-
Most students remain neutral about the reservation leads to unfair admission over merits.
