INTRODUCTION:
This report explores the idea of making a 75% attendance criterion mandatory in colleges. It aims to assess how consistent attendance can influence student performance and engagement. By analysing relevant data, the report will evaluate the potential benefits and challenges of enforcing this requirement in the academic environment.
OBJECTIVE:
To understand the underlying phenomenon of given problem “should 75% attendance criteria to be mandatory in college’’
LITERATURE REVIEW
Deane & Murphy (2013) conducted research to determine the relationship between overall examination score and student attendance. Their results showed a strong positive causal relationship, where R = 0.59, at 99% of confidence levels.
Riaz & et al. (2022), showed an association between attendance and academic performance of MBBS students of a private medical college. The mean attendance of students who failed was 49.37%. While the students who passed, had a mean attendance of 83.45% in 3rd and 4th year of college, together.
DATA COLLECTION:
To understand the above stated problem of should 75 percent attendance criteria be mandatory in college, we have framed the following five questions on Likert scales:
- I need 75 percent attendance to succeed.
 - Only 75 percent of the classes are useful.
 - I prefer a different attendance policy.
 - It promotes discipline but raises stress.
 - Focusing on attendance distracts students from learning.

We conducted a primary survey using Google Forms and surveyed 100 students of ITM colleges, in Kharghar.
For each of the five questions,
- Mean
 - Standard Deviation
 - Standard Error
 - Z-score,

were calculated using MS-Excel.
