Introduction: In today’s digital world, students heavily rely on their smartphones usually for accessing information, social media, or entertainment. Smartphones offer convenience but they may also be a cause of distractions. This article analyses the effect of smartphone usage on students’ academic performance, based on our survey findings on how the use of smartphones while studying has influenced students’ focus and productivity. Through this, we can understand how smartphone dependence is impacting their educational performance.

Objective: To understand the impact of smartphone usage on students’ academic performance.

Literature Review:

  • According to Muhammad, K., Aziz, U. R., Muhammad K. J. & Dr. Sumbal, J. (2020), “Most of the people agreed that smartphones are reducing quality of education besides, the results have discovered that the smartphones negatively affect the performance of students.”
  • According to Pamela, C., Hrudaya, K. T. (2018), “There is a negative correlation between academic performance and smartphone addiction. This clearly indicates that the use of smartphone should be discouraged amongst the student community.”

Data Collection: Following questions were framed on liked scale with the help of google forms.
