TITLE:-Impact of junk food on students Health
AUTHOR:- Pallavi Ghare
INTRODUCTION:-
In recent years, many students have been eating a lot of junk food.
Junk food is full of unhealthy stuff like sugar and bad fats, and it doesn’t
give your body the good stuff it needs. This kind of food is easy to find, cheap, and
heavily advertised, which makes it tempting to eat. But it’s not good for us. Eating
too much junk food can make us gain weight, get sick more often, and even make it harder
to think clearly and do well in school. In this essay, we’ll look at why junk food is bad
for students’ health and why it’s important to find ways to eat healthier.
OBJECTIVE :-
To understanding the Impact of junk food on students health.
LITERATURE REVIEW:-
1.The University Grants Commission (UGC) has instructed universities across
India to take steps against the availability and sale of junk food on their campuses.
This decision aims to raise awareness among students about the harmful effects of
consuming junk food and promote healthier dietary habits. While some professors
and faculty members support this initiative, there are mixed reactions among students.
While some students express concerns about the inconvenience of not having access to junk
food on campus, others view it as a positive step towards encouraging healthier eating
habits. The measures suggested by the UGC include sensitizing students about the ill
effects of junk food, utilizing universities as data sources on student health, an establishing wellness clusters under the student welfare department to provide counselingon nutrition, exercise, and healthy habits.
- Researchers at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore found that consuming a high-fat meal can impair blood vessel dilation, but taking high doses of vitamins C and E before such a meal may prevent this impairment. The study involved 20 healthy adult volunteers who ate a 900-calorie fast-food meal high in saturated fat. Before the meal, blood vessel dilation averaged 21 percent, which decreased to 12 percent two hours after eating. However, when participants took vitamins C and E before the meal on another occasion, blood vessel dilation averaged 17 percent after two hours. Despite these findings, researchers caution against relying solely on vitamin supplements and emphasize the importance of a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables for maintaining cardiovascular health.
