Introduction: Women athletes in India often face challenges such as lack of funding and sponsorship opportunities, limited access to quality training facilities and coaching, and societal pressure to prioritize domestic roles over sports careers. Our survey revealed what are student’s experience on problems faced by women athletes in India.
Objective: To understand the underlying issues of that problem.
Literature review:
1) 5 Female Athletes to Inspire the Crowd.
Aldertion (2019) states that the passage highlights the achievements and inspirational stories of five remarkable female athletes: Megan Rapinoe, Laila Ali, Amy Van Dyken-Rouen, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, and Serena Williams. Each of these women has overcome challenges and excelled in their respective sports, serving as powerful role models for others. Their successes demonstrate that female athletes can be just as impactful off the field as they are on it, inspiring audiences to aim higher and strive for greatness in their own endeavors.
2) Serena Williams Forever Changed How Brands See Female Athletes.
Ceron and Bhasin (2022) explains Serena Williams concludes her illustrious 27-year tennis career after losing to Ajla Tomljanovic at the US Open. Her impact on women’s sports sponsorships is profound, with brands like Gatorade and Nike investing more in female athletes inspired by her success. Despite ongoing pay disparities, Williams’ legacy includes advocating for equal treatment and opportunities for women athletes. As she transitions into retirement, brands like Michelob Ultra continue to support her, recognizing her pivotal role in promoting women in sports and advocating for equity on and off the court.
