Introduction:

In the rapidly changing and dynamic terrain of the 21st century, the importance of maintaining good mental health has become a crucial aspect of both individual welfare and societal advancement. As we manoeuvre through the intricacies of contemporary living, the influence of mental well-being on one’s overall quality of life, effectiveness at work, and connections with others is of paramount significance. The ongoing challenges today, characterized by advancements in technology, economic instabilities, and worldwide crises, highlight the essential need to foster and sustain mental health.

Objective:

 To understand the importance of sound mental health in the 21st century.

Literature Review:

Article 1: “Sound Mental Health: Key Predictor for Ecologically Sustainable Development of Society” by Dr. Zeba Aqil

This study investigates the diverse aspects of maintaining optimal mental health and its relevance in today’s context. It aims to examine not just the difficulties presented by the modern setting but also potential remedies and approaches that enable individuals to cultivate resilience and well-being. By thoroughly exploring psychological, social, and cultural dimensions, this report strives to add to the continuous conversation on mental health, highlighting its crucial role in shaping a more robust, sustainable future for both individuals and society overall.

Article 2: “The effects on the mental, emotional, and behavioral health of children and youth: Implications for prevention.”

             This article examines the impact of certain factors on children’s mental health. It discusses challenges in establishing causal links, introduces a conceptual framework considering selection processes and mechanisms, reviews the literature on how poverty affects children’s well-being, and highlights the importance of understanding these pathways for designing effective preventive interventions.

 

Data Collection:

 5 statements were put on a Google form and were circulated to 103 students of ITM. For every statement – mean, standard deviation, standard error, and t-stat were calculated. This data was primarily collected by the members of the group.

Conclusion:

Statement 1- Recognising mental health leads to a better life.

For statement 1, accept the alternative hypothesis as t-stat =10.8898 which is more than 1.96.

 It can be concluded that the recognition of mental health will lead to a better life.

 

Statement 2- Prioritising sound mental health builds a kinder community. 

For statement 2, accept the alternative hypothesis as t-stat =9.4931 which is more than 1.96

It can be concluded that prioritizing sound mental health would build a kinder and better community.

 

Statement 3- Understanding mental health is crucial in today’s hectic lifestyle. 

For statement 3, accept the alternative hypothesis as t-stat = 13.0123 which is more than 1.96.

It can be concluded that understanding mental health is very important in our hectic lifestyle.

 

Statement 4- Open conversations will help us know more about each other’s mental health. 

For statement 4, accept the alternative hypothesis as t-stat = 14.5869 which is more than 1.96.

It can be concluded that open conversations with each other will help us know the mental health of people around us.

 

Statement 5- Sound mental health shapes daily life. 

For statement 5, accept the alternative hypothesis as t-stat = 12.8116 which is more than 1.96.

It can be concluded that well-being of mental health shapes daily life.
