Introduction: Summer internships are often extremely important and beneficial for students. It gives them hands-on experience in their chosen professions, allowing them to apply their academic knowledge in real-world circumstances. The internship encourages personal and professional development by improving skills and increasing confidence. In addition, students usually appreciate the opportunity to network with experts and learn about potential career paths. Overall, summer internships are an important stepping stone to future success.

Objectives: To understand the underlying experience of Students on Summer Internship.

Literature Review:

Internship for accounting undergraduates: Comparative insights from stakeholders.

Sawania, Y., et al. (2016) offered the most significant internship in the Commerce discipline comparison of accounting, finance, marketing, business, and tax. Accounting internships focus on tax and auditing. Interns at Big Four firms must have professional knowledge. The majority of companies had a positive experience with the students, although several expressed concern about the interns’ incapacity to prepare technical reports and communicate ideas. There may be a lot of influence at work, such as ragging and bullying, which is sometimes unavoidable because seniors have more freedom to use interns and juniors for their purposes.

Evaluating the Effectiveness of MBA Internship Programme – An Experiential Approach

Dr. Gunmala S., et al. (2013) The study found that skill development and learning outcomes         significantly impact the overall efficacy of internships. The study suggests that corporate experience is not a significant predictor of internship effectiveness. Employers, supervisors, program organizers, and universities should focus on designing internship programs that encourage skill development rather than solely providing corporate experience. There is no significant difference in internship effectiveness between MBA General Stream, Biotechnology Human Resource, and International Business Stream students. This aligns with previous research suggesting that more time spent at the internship site and access to supportive organizations influence learning.

Data Collection: Based on the above problem following questions were asked to the students of Kohinoor Business School based on “Likert scale”-

  1. I am satisfied with my summer internship.
  2. I got exposure about my specialization after summer internship.
  3. I faced difficulty in building peer network.
  4. Summer internship has changed my perspective about corporate.
  5. During summer internship I realised that there are many things/skills I need to work on.
  6. I am satisfied with the stipend I received.

100 students were surveyed.

For each Question – Mean. Standard deviation, Standard Error and Z has been calculated.

Data Analysis:

Hypothesis Testing: To test the hypotheses, a significance level of 0.05 (95% confidence level) was chosen. The critical value for a two-tailed test at a 95% confidence level is Z = 1.96. The upper limit (Xu) and lower limit (Xl) were calculated based on the mean, standard error, and Z-value.
