Introduction
Railways are a crucial means of connectivity in the transportation industry, allowing for the smooth movement of people and products across varied locations. However, the reliable operation of railways faces a variety of difficulties as the monsoon season comes in with its heavy downpours and unexpected weather patterns. This study explores the complex network of issues people run into when they rely on trains for transportation during the rainy season.
Objective:
To get knowledge about people’s experience with the issues that railways cause during the monsoon
Literature Review:
The problems faced by individuals during the monsoon season due to railways are multifaceted, encompassing infrastructure vulnerabilities, service disruptions, safety concerns, communication gaps, and broader impacts on urban mobility and the environment. To address these challenges, there is a need for proactive measures such as improved maintenance practices, resilient infrastructure design, effective communication systems, and the development of adaptation strategies to minimize the adverse effects of monsoons on railway operations and passenger experiences.
Data Collection:
In order to gather the data, we constructed a table for analyzing the student responses and prepared a sheet with five questions on it. With the help of a Likert scale, we evaluated the responses of the students from (-2) to (+2) where [-2 = strongly disagree, -1 = disagree, 0 Neutral, +1 = Agree, +2 = strongly agree]; the questions were based on what kinds of problems they had encountered in the monsoon due to railways.
Q1. My train was often late during monsoon
Q2. I personally witnessed how the railway disruption affected citizen’s daily commutes
Q3. I have seen many accidents on the railway during the monsoon
Q4. I knew there were multiple mode of transportation
Q5. I noticed that the railway’s disturbance had a variety of causes
