Introduction:

This study seeks to tackle overcrowding and congestion issues during rush hours in Mumbai local trains. This research aims to understand and address the challenges caused by overcrowding in Mumbai local trains. The study will investigate the root causes and consequences of rush hours, which lead to discomfort, safety risks, and disruptions for millions of passengers.

 

Objective:

To understand the underlying phenomena of “The problem faced by people due to rush of Mumbai local trains”

 

Literature review: 

SURVEY OF PASSENGER RIDERSHIP IN MUMBAI SUBURBAN RAILWAY.
Arpit Vyas and his team (2019) says that Mumbai’s densely populated metropolis relies heavily on local trains for transportation. However, issues like overcrowding, infrastructure shortcomings, and resource inefficiencies lead to significant stress among commuters. In light of this, a survey has been undertaken with the goal of comprehending passenger patterns, enhancing facilities, and strategizing future expansions.

APPREHENSION STUDY OF PASSENGERS TRAVELLING BY MUMBAI SUBURBAN TRAINS.
Sanjeev Kadam (2015) says that the study analyzes passengers’ discomfort on Mumbai suburban trains due to overcrowding and safety worries. Despite heightened demand and inadequate capacity, the system stays congested, posing risks and resulting in fatal incidents. The study concludes that persistent demand-supply gap will keep challenges and concerns alive.

Data collection

We conducted a paper survey that asked questions about problems and provided answers on Likert sale. The survey is conducted exclusively on the college campus and has a total of 100 respondents. The questions are,

1) I have to travel to my college daily during peak hours.

2) I realised that traveling in peak hours was quite hectic.

3) I face difficulty boarding during peak hours.

4) I missed my station sometimes.

5) My dressing gets messed up.

Result :

Accepted – Individuals are dealing with the issues described above. People really agree on the problems, except for the fourth, which only a few people face hence the outcome is neutral. 

 

Conclusion:

1) People travel to college daily during peak hours in Mumbai Local.

2) People realize that travelling in peak hours was quite hectic in Mumbai Local.

3) People face difficulty during boarding in peak hours in Mumbai Local.

4) People are neutral towards missed their station sometimes due to rush in Mumbai Local.

5) People’s dressing gets messed up due to Mumbai Local.
