Exploring college students’ fitness and health management based on Internet of Things technology
He, Lija et al encourages college students to exercise and stay healthy which is really important. Schools and teachers can help students build good exercise habits that they can keep doing for a long time. To help with this, they’ve used a computer system that collects and studies a lot of information, called “big data technology.” This system can also use “machine learning” and “neural networks” to help students choose the best exercises and equipment for them, and follow their progress toward better health. They’ve also asked students some questions (in a survey) to see if these tools and techniques are helping them get healthier and stay on track with their exercise goals. Overall, this method can help college students develop healthy habits that will be good for them for a long time. (Journal of High Speed Networks, 2022)
Medicaid and the Health of Children
Hakim, Rosemarie B. et al talks about a program called Medicaid in the United States. Medicaid gives health insurance to families with low income children. Over the time, Medicaid has gotten better at preventing health problems and helping more children who didn’t have insurance before. There have also been changes to how Medicaid is managed, including the use of managed care programs. Another law called SCHIP was made to help families with kids who didn’t qualify for Medicaid but couldn’t afford private insurance. Studies show that Medicaid helps kids be healthier, but sometimes it’s still harder for them to get medical care than for kids with private insurance. (Health Care Financing Review, Fall2000)
Symmetric key-based patient controlled secured electronic health record management protocol
Farzana, Syeda et al explains Electronic Health Records (EHRs) which is digital record of a person’s medical history, such as doctor visits and prescribed medications. Doctors can access these records easily and share them with other medical professionals. It’s important to protect patient’s privacy and security when using EHRs, so special technology is used to keep the information secure. This includes things like encryption (using codes to keep the information secret), and access control (making sure only authorized people can see the information). They’ve also tried to make this easier for different medical systems to share EHRs with each other, and security features like authentication help to keep the information safe from unauthorized access. Population Health Management, 2021 Style: Two health systems at the forefront of population health management share how their experiences in 2020 will influence their work going forward
Butcher, Lola tells us that the COVID-19 pandemic and racial inequality have taught us that we need to improve healthcare for everyone. Healthcare providers are learning from these lessons and making changes to make sure people get the care they need. One way they are doing this is by focusing on preventing health problems before they happen. During the pandemic, doctors talked to their patients using telehealth to check in on their health and make sure they were doing okay. Some organizations sent medical supplies to hospitals to help with the pandemic. There are two health systems, Ochsner Health and Enhanced Tracks. They are working to make sure people get the care they need and save money at the same time. It means finding ways to provide better care while also making it more affordable for people. Pushing population health management
Darves, Bonnie talks about how healthcare organizations can be structured in different ways. Some focuses on having lots of resources, like money and equipment, while others focuses on making sure things are done efficiently and correctly (process). When organizations focuses on processes, they need management accounting and control systems (MAS) to help make decisions and control what is happening. However, these MAS can have problems with measuring things accurately, and they may not be designed well to support processes. This can cause disagreements between different managers in the organization. They suggests that healthcare organizations should use new MAS that work well with their current systems to support process orientation. These new MAS should be designed to work well with all parts of the organization. This way, everyone can work together to make sure things are done efficiently and correctly. To Your Health
Johnson-Moreno, Heather discusses a government program called Medicaid which provides health insurance to families with low income. Medicaid is important because it covers a lot of children, especially those who are younger. People who have Medicaid usually pay less money for medical expenses than people who are uninsured or have private insurance. Having health insurance is good for children because they can get medical care when they need it, such as going to the doctor or getting medications. Even though Medicaid has helped many children, some studies show that children with private insurance sometimes get more services than those with Medicaid, although Medicaid is better than having no insurance at all. Adult Cigarette Smoking Prevalence: Declining as Expected (Not as Desired)
Mendez et al conducts a study that looked at whether the number of people who smoke is decreasing like it should be based on a population density model. They found that the number of smokers is decreasing, but it is happening more slowly than it did in the past. This means that it may be harder to get everyone to stop smoking completely. The study used information from a survey (National Health Interview Survey) and found that the number of smokers decreased by about 0.3% each year, which is slower than before. Florida’s Motorcycle Helmet Law Repeal and Fatality Rates
Muller, Andreas conducted a study to examine what happened to motorcycle accidents and deaths in Florida after the state passed a law allowing people over the age of 21 to ride motorcycles without wearing helmets. They discovered that after the law was passed, there was a significant increase in motorcycle deaths, and more people started riding motorcycles, which might have caused the increase in fatalities. The study concludes that allowing people to ride motorcycles without helmets is dangerous and can increase the risk of death, which can result in higher insurance and medical costs. Total quality management in health care: a survey of current practices
Lin et al conducted a survey on hospitals to understand their implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) program. TQM is a process that helps improve the quality of care in hospitals. The survey found that more than half of the hospitals have implemented the TQM program. To measure the success of the quality of care, different methods are used such as patient surveys, performance appraisals, and infection rates. However, for TQM to become a part of the hospital culture, it is important to establish quality goals, identify potential conflicting goals, develop TQM goals, and ensure top management commitment. Prisons and Health Reforms in England and Wales
Hayton et al discusses the changes that were made to the healthcare services provided in prisons in the UK. Previously, the prison service was responsible for providing healthcare separately from the National Health Service (NHS). However, the government decided to shift control of prison health services to the Department of Health. The director of prison health was relocated to the Department of Health but remained a member of the Prison Service Management Board. The World Health Organization (Europe) Health in Prisons Project has called for a closer link between public health and prisons. The American Public Health Association has also visited England in 2004 as guests of the Department of Health and Her Majesty’s Prison Service. (American Journal of Public Health,Oct2006)
Conclusion
The above Literature Review talks about two health systems working together to provide better healthcare for people while also saving money. This can be done through a government program called Medicaid that gives health insurance to low-income children and their families. Medicaid has helped many children get the healthcare they need, but some kids with private insurance still get better care. Also the government’s decision to move control of prison healthcare to the Department of Health, highlighting the importance of public health in prisons.
