Author – Akshada Shantaram Porje
Introduction –Social media apps have become an integral part of our daily lives, allowing us to connect with friends and family, share information, and stay updated on the latest news and trends. With the increasing popularity of social media, numerous apps have emerged, each with its own unique features and functionalities. In this I will focus on four major social media apps, namely Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and YouTube, and analyze the hypothesis.
Objective – To compare four social media applications and test the following hypothesis.
Data collection – Firstly 4 social media apps were taken for survey . This data was collected in class and the students was asked to rate which social media app they like and rate it on the scale of 1 to 10 and one way anova was carried out.
Data analysis – Anova
Sources of variation
• Sum of square’s (SS) :
1. Between groups: 466.583
2. Within groups: 705.641
3. Total: 1172.224
• df (Degree of freedom) :
1. Between groups : 3
2. Within groups: 152
3. Total: 155
• MS (Mean sum of square’s):
1. Between groups : 155.527
2. Within groups: 4.643
3. Total: 155
• F =33.507
• P-value = 0
• F-crit = 2.664
• Result:
1. The sum of squares (SS) between the groups is 466.583, within the groups is 705.641, and the total is 1172.224.
2. The degree of freedom (df) between groups is 3, within the groups is 152, and the total is 155.
3. The mean sum of squares (MS) between groups is 155.527, within the groups is 4.643, and the total is 155.
4. The F-ratio is 33.507.
5. The p-value is 0, which means that the result is statistically significant.
6. The critical F-value (F-crit) at a significance level of 0.05 with 3 and 152 degrees of freedom is 2.664.
Based on the F-ratio, which is much larger than the critical F-value, and the p-value, which is less than 0.05, we can reject the null hypothesis that is H0 and accept alternate hypothesis that is H1.
• Conclusion – Accept H1 ( Alternate hypothesis) which means one of them is different from other.
