INTRODUCTION:
Beverages are liquids other than water intending to offer something in addition to quenching thirst. Beverages are a part of our daily life and have a great impact on our routine if consumed daily. They act as agents which stimulate better performance, stress relief and also foster social interaction. But sometimes they tend to become addictive in nature. Not just that as if consumed in excess people will be prone to a few health issues.
OBJECTIVE: To assess the individual’s attitude toward everyday tea/coffee drinking. And observe their behaviour in response to that.
Alternate Hypothesis:
1. I can start my day without having coffee/tea
2. I need not to have tea/coffee to work/study efficiently
3. I don’t feel tea/coffee culture fosters social interaction
4. I don’t believe consumption of tea on an empty stomach is harmful to health
5. According to me, coffee is harmful but tea is not
DATA COLLECTION: Primary research was conducted on a sample of 112 students ranging in age from 20 to 25 years. The scale’s values were
1) strongly disagree, 2) disagree, and 3) disagree. 3) Agree, 4) Neutral, 5) Strongly Agree
Their replies were collected using a Google form and then placed into an excel file, which was used to analyse standard deviation and other related variables.
DATA ANALYSIS:
1. Since we have taken range from 1 to 5, our u vale will be 3 for every statement
2. Mean values are 2.65, 2.69, 3.77, 3.57, 2.11 respectively for each statement
3. Standard Deviation are 1.57, 1.45, 1.03, 1.24, 1.11 respectively
4. Z values for 1st statement is -0.22, and -0.21 for 2nd statement and 0.74, 0.46, -0.80 for 3rd, 4th and 5th statement respectively.
5. So, all the values are coming in neutral so we can’t reject or accept the null hypothesis
CRITERIA:
If Z > 1.96, accept positively
If Z is between 1.96 and -1.96, people are neutral
If Z is less than – 1.96 accept negatively
FINDINGS:
1. From the computed z value of -0.22 we see that not everyone needs Tea/Coffee to start their day
2. Z value -0.21 shows us that not everyone needs Tea/Coffee to work efficiently
3. Not everyone feels that Tea/Coffee culture fosters social interaction, that is derived by z=0.74
4. Not everyone believes that tea on empty stomach is harmful that is seen by z 0.46
5. Z value -0.80 shows that not everyone believes that coffee is not harmful and tea is
6. And in our research, we also found out that some people believe that
• some prefer interactions with cigarettes rather than tea or coffee
• Daily consumption of tea/coffee is harmful for health.
• People should drink less tea/coffee.
• Both are good when consumed limitedly and both are harmful if consumed excessively.
• Chai nahi hai tho zindagi bhi nahi!
• Coffee is said to be harmful when consumed beyond a threshold. Tea doesn’t have such predominant effects as such
• Just a normal routine to have a cup ot tea in the morning
• Tea, coffee are neuro stimulants which give us instant boost but are good for our health, just like drugs.
• It’s just a habit for most of them. Which got included in their life. Feeling thirsty have tea/coffee it will be better, off course partly it’s true, but mostly an English habit.
