Social Media distancing people

Problem: To find out whether social media has brought more distance between people instead of connecting them.
Sub Problem: People have started to meet peers, relatives and strangers less often.
Introduction: Social media, the platform for interacting with other people and community in a virtual space has not only distanced people but has also affected their people’s confidence levels; promoted polarised opinions and hatred in the community.
Objective:
To understand whether the problem exists or not.
Data Collection: Primary Data
Data Analysis:
We have done the analysis on the basis of survey and received the following outputs:

Hypothesis:
Statement 1
• Null Hypothesis (H0): People may or may not feel that their family time has decreased due to social media.
• Alternate Hypothesis (H1): People feel that their family time is decreased due to social media.
• Alternate Hypothesis (H1): People doesn’t feel that their family time is decreased due to social media.
Statement 2
• Null Hypothesis (H0): People may or may not prefer to use social media to wish their close ones.
• Alternate Hypothesis (H1): People prefer to use social media to wish their close ones.
• Alternate Hypothesis (H1): People don’t prefer to use social media to wish their close ones.
Statement 3
• Null Hypothesis (H0): People may or may not prefer to share food photos on social media.
• Alternate Hypothesis (H1): People prefer to share food photos on social media.

Conclusion & Findings:
The survey concluded that:
• People feel that their family time has been decreased due to social media, therefore alternate hypothesis is positively accepted.
• People feel both ways on wishing their close ones on social media.
• People don’t prefer to share food photos on social media, therefore alternate hypothesis is negatively accepted.
• People prefer to use social media to record experiences while travelling, therefore alternate hypothesis is positively accepted.
• People feel that their friends and them doesn’t meet less often after social media, therefore alternate hypothesis is negatively accepted.
