Literature review:
1. Literature based on Tejaswini Ganti (Bollywood Industry & Celebrity Culture)
Tejaswini Ganti has argued that Bollywood is an organized cultural industry in which stardom is carefully managed through the media, marketing, and audience engagement. According to Ganti’s research, in Bollywood, actors not only represent themselves as actors but also as brands, which are built upon their roles in movies, marketing strategies, and audience engagement. In the case of actresses such as Deepika Padukone and Kiara Advani, it is argued that they have achieved success not only through their talent but also through effective positioning in the industry. Ganti has argued that celebrity culture in Bollywood is constantly changing, in which appearance and visibility contribute to growth in an actor’s career.
2. Literature based on P. David Marshall (Celebrity Studies)
According to P. David Marshall, celebrities are influential public figures whose personalities are formed through constant interaction with the media and public. Marshall further states that celebrity culture in the present day is defined by visibility, especially in terms of digital media. In this context, Bollywood celebrities like Sunny Leone have been able to carve out a successful personality brand via social media and public interactions. On the other hand, celebrities like Katrina Kaif have been able to sustain their celebrity status via media visibility.
3. Literature based on Neepa Majumdar (Female Stardom and Identity)
In her work on Indian cinema and female representation in Indian films, Neepa Majumdar discusses female stardom and identity. In this context, it is seen that female actors are judged not only on their performance as actors but also on their identity. In this context, Deepika Padukone is seen to have portrayed strong and independent female characters, while Sunny Leone is seen to have taken an alternative route in life. In conclusion, female stardom in Bollywood is seen to have changed over time.
Data Collection:
The study was conducted to compare the ratings of four female actors- Katrina Kaif, Kiara Adhvani, Sunny Leone and Deepika Padukone-based on student preference. A Google Form survey was used to collect data, where 30 students rated each female actor on a scale of 1 to 10 according to their experience or liking. All responses were recorded in a spreadsheet, resulting in a total of 120 ratings, with 30 ratings for each female actor.
Data Analysis:

Anova: Single Factor

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The ANOVA test result shows that there is no significant difference in the average ratings of Katrina Kaif, Kiara Advani, Sunny Leone, and Deepika Padukone since the P-value (0.5769) is greater than 0.05, and the F value is less than the critical value. Hence, any variation in the average ratings of Katrina Kaif, Kiara Advani, Sunny Leone, and Deepika Padukone is due to chance, and all the actresses are rated equally.
Conclusion
The study concludes that there is no significant difference in the popularity of Katrina Kaif, Kiara Advani, Sunny Leone, and Deepika Padukone among the respondents. It has been found that even though Deepika Padukone received the highest average rating, the ANOVA test results revealed that the difference is statistically insignificant. Therefore, it can be inferred that all four actresses are equally popular, and the difference in ratings is by mere coincidence.
