Literature review

 

1.     Human vs Artificial intelligence: The role of agent knowledge and consumer responses to AI influencers, moderated by interactivity and mediated by anthropomorphism.

The study looks at how people react to AI influencers and recommendations. It finds that when people are more aware that AI uses algorithms to influence them, they trust it less and are less likely to buy the product. This negative reaction is stronger when the AI acts very human-like and interactive. If the AI is less interactive, awareness does not affect people as much. Overall, being too aware and making AI too human-like can reduce its effectiveness (Casaló et al., 2023).

 

2.     AI vs. Human buyers: A study of alibaba’s inventory replenishment system.

 

This study looks at how Alibaba manages its inventory. In the past, human buyers made the final decisions, even when AI gave suggestions. The company tested a new system where AI makes the final call using advanced learning methods. The results show the AI reduces stock shortages and lowers inventory better than human buyers. During COVID-19 lockdowns, the AI also reduced panic buying and supply chain disruptions (Liu, el at., 2022).

 

3.     Inside open Ai’s new experiment using real jobs to measure AI vs Humans.

OpenAI is asking contractors to share real work files to compare AI with human performance. This raises concerns about privacy, NDAs, and possible legal risks. People are worried about how safe and confidential their data will be (David; Ofonagoro, el at., 2023).

 

 

4.     In man vs. machine, Human wins over IBM’s AI debater.

 

In a fast 25-minute debate about preschool subsidies, a human debater faced an AI system. The audience chose 31-year-old Harish Natarajan as the winner. However, many said the AI helped them learn more about the topic. Natarajan is an experienced champion with a world record in debate wins. He knew he was up against a tough technological competitor (Carville el at., 2020).

 

5.     The future of recruiting: more AI and human connection.

 

Recruiting works best when AI and humans team up. AI handles data and repetitive tasks, while humans bring empathy, judgment, and relationship-building. Together, they make hiring faster, smarter, and more effective. Human skills remain crucial for final decisions and understanding candidates in ways AI can’t (Bersin, J. (2021).

 

 

 

6.     Frontiers machines vs. humans: The Impact of artificial intelligence chatbot disclosure on customer purchases.

 

AI chatbots can sell as well as skilled humans but upfront disclosure reduces purchases, as people see them as less knowledgeable and empathetic. This bias, not the bot’s ability, drives the effect. Late disclosure or targeting AI-experienced customers can make chatbots more effective in sales (Gnewuch el at.,2017).

 

 

7.     AI robotics vs humans in compost containment removal.

 

Atlas Organics in San Antonio tried using AI robotic arms to sort compost and remove contaminants, replacing human workers. The goal was to improve efficiency and reduce staffing issues. However, humans were better at spotting and removing contaminants. The robots proved inefficient and caused operational problems, so they were removed from the line. The study suggests AI equipment needs better design before it can work effectively in real composting facilities (Hattabaugh, Aspen 2022).

 

 

 

8.     AI increases unethical consumer behaviour due to reduced anticipatory guilt.

This research looks at how AI and robots in service industries affect consumer behavior. People tend to act more unethically when interacting with non-human agents because they feel less guilt. Giving AI or robots human-like features can reduce this effect. The studies show that it’s not about perceptions of warmth, competence, or detection ability. Instead, the key factor is how “human” the agent feels. These findings highlight the importance of designing AI interactions carefully to encourage ethical behavior (Mikhail, J. el at.,2021).

 

 

 

 

9.     How organisations technological orientation shapes job seekers responses towards AI

 

This study looks at how job seekers feel about companies using AI in hiring. People are less likely to apply to low-tech organizations that rely on AI compared to high-tech ones. This happens because the use of AI feels mismatched with the company’s image, creating cognitive dissonance. The effect was consistent across different organizational settings. The research shows that both company reputation and AI use shape applicant behavior. HR professionals can use these insights to implement AI more effectively in recruitment (Chen, X., el at.,2020).

 

 

10.  AI and Environmental Decisions in Oil Industry

 

The article looks at the global oil industry and its focus on economic growth within legal and environmental limits. It highlights the role of organizations like the Conservation Law Foundation in shaping energy projects. AI is being applied to reduce human risk in unexpected situations. Decisions about resource management, like dry vs. wet tree processing, are also influenced by these technologies and regulations (HEAD, WILLIAM (BILL) 2022).

 

Conclusions

AI can handle repetitive tasks and manage data better than humans sometimes. But humans are better at understanding people, making ethical choices, and solving tricky problems. Too much AI or AI that acts very human can reduce trust. The best results come when humans and AI work together, using AI for speed and data, and humans for judgment and care.
