Introduction –
In today’s competitive job market, students seek ways to stand out beyond grades. College clubs provide opportunities to develop essential soft skills like leadership, teamwork, and project management, while offering networking and real-world experiences. This study explores how participation in college clubs enhances career readiness and professional growth.
Objectives –
To Understand the underlying phenomenon of Skill development or upskilling Through active participation in college clubs.
Literature Review –
1. Soft Skill Development:
Machiraju (2020) highlights that college clubs boost leadership, teamwork, and communication, enhancing employability.
2. Academic Performance & Social Integration:
Khan & Jain (2019) report that club participation improves time-management, peer interaction, and overall academic growth.
Data Collection –
Type of Data: Primary data
Method: Structured questionnaire (Google forms)
Sample Size: 100 students from ITM College across different specializations
Sampling Technique: Convenience sampling
Measurement: A 5-point Likert Scale
Likert Scale Questions:
Q1: I feel that my communication and teamwork skills have improved through club activities.
Q2: I believe that being a club member helps me manage my time more effectively.
Q3: I feel that my involvement in clubs provides me with practical knowledge that I don’t get in the classroom.
Q4: I find that participating in club events helps me reduce my academic stress and feel more relaxed.
Q5: I am confident that my club experiences will make my resume look more attractive to future employers.
For each question, Mean, Standard Deviation, Standard Error, and t-statistics were calculated to analyze student’s responses.

Conclusion –
- Students agree that their communication and teamwork skills have improved through club activities.
- Students are neutral regarding whether being a club member helps them manage their time more effectively.
- Students strongly agree that involvement in clubs provides them with practical knowledge not found in the classroom.
- Students agree that participating in club events helps reduce academic stress and promotes relaxation.
- Overall, students strongly agree and are confident that club experiences make their resumes more attractive to future employers.
