Interpretation

The study examined the association between Type of Music and four listening-related variables: Listening Time, Listening Style, Feeling While Listening, and Language Preferred using the Chi- square test on a sample of 30 respondents.

1. Type of Music and Listening Time
The Chi-
square test result (χ2 = 18.175, df = 9, p = 0.033) indicates a statistically significant association between the type of music preferred and the time of listening. Calm/Lo-fi music is mostly listened to in the morning and at night, indicating its use for relaxation and focus. Party music is predominantly listened to in the evening, suggesting social and recreational usage. Romantic and sad music are mainly preferred during the night, reflecting emotional and introspective listening habits. This implies that music preferences vary according to daily routines and emotional states at different times of the day.

2. Type of Music and Listening Style
The Chi-
square test shows a highly significant relationship (χ2 = 45.441, df = 6, p < 0.001). Calm/Lo- fi and sad music are exclusively listened to alone, suggesting personal and introspective engagement. Party music is entirely listened to with friends, highlighting its social nature. Romantic music is mostly enjoyed both alone and with others, indicating flexible listening behavior. This shows that music choice strongly influences social context while listening.

3. Type of Music and Feeling While Listening
A strong statistically significant association was found (χ2 = 56.143, df = 9, p < 0.001). Calm/Lo-fi music makes listeners feel relaxed. Party music is associated with energetic and happy feelings. Romantic music evokes emotional and happy responses. Sad music is linked entirely with emotional feelings. The findings confirm that music has a direct and predictable impact on emotional states.

4. Type of Music and Language Preferred
The Chi-
square test result (χ2 = 36.923, df = 9, p < 0.001) reveals a significant association between music type and preferred language. Calm/Lo-fi listeners prefer English music. Romantic and sad music listeners show a strong preference for Hindi and regional languages, indicating emotional depth and cultural connection.Party music listeners prefer a mix of English and mixed-language songs. This suggests that language preference in music is influenced by both mood and genre.
