This study examines the impact of parental migration on the academic performance of Left Behind Children (LBCs) in rural China. Using data from over 13,000 students across 130 rural schools, the results show that parental migration generally has a positive effect on LBCs’ academic performance, particularly for students who performed poorly before their parents migrated. 2. Out of the Education Desert: How Limited Local College Options are Associated with Inequity in Postsecondary Opportunities

The study highlights how these disparities contribute to social inequality and offers policy recommendations to address the issue.
