Work Life Balance – A Review of Theories, Definitions and Policies
Fatima, (2021) Presented this study focuses on principles of balance in the thesis, mainly emissions, conflict, divisional expulsion, enrichment conference and border boundary theory, because they are directly related to the subject. Other principles, such as human capital, social identity and role theory, are less research in this field because they come from sociology and psychology. Modern research now emphasizes positive and practical aspects instead of conflicts. Although the principles are discussed separately, they often overlap, making them difficult to distinguish them. However, this letter emphasizes the attitude and concept of providing a clear understanding of the balance between working life and life.
Overview of work-life balance discourse and its relevance in current economic scenario
Naithani & Pranav, (2010) Presented balance between work and life is important for both employees and organizations. When employees have better balance, they are busier and more productive, improving the company’s total performance. Organizations that ignore the balance between working life due to the economic recession can have low productivity and difficulty in overcoming challenges. Companies should understand that investment in employees’ welfare provides long success. If they are unable to support the balance between work and life, they risk low commitment, low efficiency and future existence challenges. Maintaining politics for balance between work and life is necessary to maintain staff motivation and business development, even under financial difficulties.
The Perception of Managers on the importance of a Work Life Balance Strategy: An Exploratory View
Priya, (2016) Presented that this study examines the leaders’ views on the balance between working life and life in organizations, from startups to multinational companies. Companies recognize the importance of reducing conflicts in working life and trying to develop better policies. However, they face professional challenges and competitive pressure, which makes it difficult to implement the balance between working life and life. While some efforts are being made, more research is needed to create a strong structure for effective balance practice for working life and life. This study is limited to two organizations and two leaders, but future research will expand the scope to gain deep insight into this important issue.
Work Life Balance in Indian IT & BPO Industry
Pallvi & Chitkara, (2012) Presented the study examines the balance between working life in Indian BPO and IT regions, where employees meet long, demand and high goals. Companies offer high salaries and financial benefits such as quotas, bonuses and overtime pay, as well as non-monetary quotas such as health programs, flexible programs, paid magazines and careers. Employees think health benefits are most valuable due to stress in the workplace. Flexible labor options and family magazines also help maintain balance. However, many are still struggling with balance between work and life, with a thin difference between them and among those who have challenges, especially in adapting family life.
Work-life balance in academia: Experiences of lecturers in Switzerland
Robert, (2016) Presented the study examines the balance between working life and academic lecturers in Switzerland. Conclusions suggest that academic work provides flexibility, but it also causes challenges in dealing with personal and business responsibilities. Many lecturers struggle with blurry boundaries between work and domestic life, and often feel pressure to work beyond regular hours. Despite flexibility, working life conflicts and stress are common due to high charging and performance expectations. The study highlights the need for better guidelines and support systems in academics to improve the balance between work and life. Future research can focus on major tests and interviews to gain deep insight into these challenges.
Working hours and Work-Life Balance Satisfaction in Couples
Nathalie, et al (2010) Presented this study confirms that working hours, especially for women, strongly affect the satisfaction of life. Long, irregular or atapical hours (evening, nights, weekends) increase dissatisfaction, while public sector jobs improve. Women are struggling more with young children, especially with full -time jobs. If only women reduce working hours, they can still meet domestic burden alone. For men do not improve having children not the balance between work and life. Couples where both partners work for a long time experiences more stress. Discontent is the highest when only the woman has reduced the hours or when only the male works in the private sector.
Work–Life Balance: Weighing the Importance of Work–Family and Work–Health Balance
Andrea, et al (2020) presented that this study emphasizes the importance of health in the family’s responsibility as well as a balance between work and life. Workers now acknowledge that good health is necessary to balance work and life. Research suggests that the work health balance affects job satisfaction, and its effect varies in individuals. Unlike previous beliefs, health problems – not the age – remember the importance. The study emphasizes that the balance between work and life is not the same for everyone; It depends on what workers give most significance. It is one of the first studies that focus on the balance between work and how it affects the dynamics of working life provides valuable insight into future research and politics in the workplace.
Recession and work-life balance initiatives
Naithani & Pranav, (2010) Presented during the difficult financial time, employees require better balance between work and life, but many companies cut these benefits to save costs. Although it can reduce expenses in the short term, it can lead to smaller employees’ involvement and difficulty in hiring skilled workers for a long time. Smart companies look at the balance between work and life as an investment, not as costs. Organizations can improve productivity and loyalty by supporting employees. Taking care of employees in difficult times ensures better performance and long -term success for the company.
Green Work-Life Balance and Greenwashing the Construct of Work-Life Balance: Myth and Reality
Anuradha, et al (2021) Presented the concept of “green” balance between work and life and highlights the question of green washing, where companies mistakenly claim to support the balance between work and life. It also develops a unit to measure the balance between work and life and confirm its positive effect on employee performance. Employed plays an important role in improving connection productivity. Organizations can use these findings to make better guidelines that support employees. Balance between work and life is an important factor in employee motivation and efficiency. This helps research companies to better understand the balance between work and life and develop efficient management practices to increase employees’ welfare and performance.
A Study on the Work Life Balance of the Employees
Alex & Kaur, (2023) Presented that work in the workplace, job security, human resources policy and compensation affect the balance between work and life. Employees struggle with excitement with work and family management, and affect their results. People now prioritize family on career development and want flexible working hours. Employees-driven solutions can reduce stress, workload and overtime by increasing flexibility, family time and personal welfare. Organizations should take the balance between work and life seriously, as this employee affects both satisfaction and success for the company. Companies should focus on employees’ welfare to improve productivity and create a healthy task environment.
Conclusion:
Work-life balance is essential for both employees and organizations. Research shows that when employees maintain a good balance between work and personal life, they are more productive, engaged, and satisfied. Companies that support work-life balance benefit from higher efficiency, employee commitment, and long-term success. However, achieving this balance remains a challenge, especially in demanding industries like IT, BPO, and academia. Long working hours, workplace stress, and family responsibilities often lead to conflicts. While some organizations offer flexible work policies and benefits, many struggle to implement effective solutions due to economic pressures and competitive challenges.
