Male Singers Preference Survey Using Anova: Single Factor

Introduction: Music holds a special place in people’s lives, with different singers resonating uniquely with each listener. This report analyzes the preferences of students at ITM Business School student’s rankings of popular male singers: Kishore Kumar, Sonu Nigam, Mohit Chauhan, and Arjit Singh. ANOVA: Single Factor is used to determine if there is a significant difference in the ratings.

 

Objective: To find out if there are significant differences in the preferences of students of ITM for the rankings of popular male singers: Kishore Kumar, Sonu Nigam, Mohit Chauhan, and Arjit Singh.

 

Data Collection: Students of ITM Business School were surveyed. Each student rated the 4 popular male singers i.e Kishore Kumar, Sonu Nigam, Mohit Chauhan, and Arjit Singh on a scale of 1 to 10, were 1 indicates low preference and 10 indicates high preference. The ratings were recorded for analysis.

 

Data Analysis: The ANOVA: Single Factor test was performed to compare the means of the ratings across the four genres.

The hypotheses for the test are:

• Null Hypothesis (H0): There is no significant difference in the average ratings of Kishore Kumar, Sonu Nigam, Mohit Chauhan, and Arjit Singh.

• Alternate Hypothesis (H1): At least one of the singer has a significantly different average rating.

Since the p-value (0.802493) is much larger than the standard significance level of 0.05, we fail to reject the null hypothesis.

 

Conclusion: There is no significant difference in the average ratings of kishore kumar, Sonu Nigam, Mohit Chauhan, Arijit Singh among ITM Business School Students.
