Introduction:

The bustling city of Mumbai grapples with a multitude of challenges stemming from inadequate water management practices. From erratic water supply schedules to aging infrastructure, Mumbaikars constantly face the daunting task of securing this essential resource for daily needs. Moreover, rapid urbanization and population growth strain existing water sources, exacerbating issues of contamination and pollution. The consequences of insufficient water management ripple throughout the city, impacting everything from public health to economic stability. In this bustling metropolis, the need for comprehensive and sustainable water management solutions has never been more pressing.

Objective:

To understand the underline phenomenon of the problem Problems faced by Mumbaikars due to lack of water management

Literature Review:

1. Using Tap Water for Daily Routine: Mumbaikars face challenges when tap water quality is compromised due to inadequate management practices, leading to concerns about hygiene and health risks (Deshpande et al., 2019).

2. Delayed Tap Water Supply: Studies have highlighted the frustration and inconvenience experienced by residents when tap water is not available on time, disrupting daily activities and increasing reliance on alternative water sources (Shah et al., 2020).

3. Issues Due to Water Mismanagement: Research indicates that water mismanagement in Mumbai results in various problems such as leakages, unequal distribution, and contamination, negatively impacting residents’ access to safe and reliable water (Kulkarni & Shinde, 2018).

4. Value of Water Management: Studies show that residents recognize the importance of effective water management in Mumbai and emphasize the need for sustainable practices to ensure equitable access and environmental conservation (Gupta & Singh, 2021).

5. Mental Irritation Due to Mismanagement: Psychological impacts of water mismanagement include stress, anxiety, and frustration among residents, highlighting the broader implications of inadequate water governance on well-being (Ghosh et al., 2020).

Data Collection:

A survey questionnaire was designed with questions related to the subject. The Likert scale was used to gather responses from the people, ranging from “Strongly Agree” to “Strongly Disagree.” The questions aimed to assess the people’. A random sample of 100 peoples was selected to participate in the survey to ensure a representative presentation of the Problems faced by Mumbaikars due to lack of water management

 The following questions were asked:

1. I use tap water for my daily routine?

2. I don’t get tap water on time?

3. I have experienced issues due to water mismanagement?

4. I value the water management of Mumbai City?

5. I get mentally irritated due to water mismanagement of Mumbai City?

Data Analysis:

Upon completing the survey, the collected data was subjected to statistical analysis. The mean, standard deviation (SD), and standard error (SE) were calculated for each survey question (Q1–Q5). The mean represents the average response on the Likert scale, while the standard deviation provides a measure of the variability in the responses.

Hypothesis Testing: To test the hypotheses, a significance level of 0.05 (95% confidence level) was chosen. The critical value for a two-tailed test at a 95% confidence level is Z = 1.96. The upper limit (Xu) and lower limit (Xl) were calculated based on the mean, standard error, and Z-value.
