TITLE : COMPARISON OF FOUR BOLLYWOOD MOVIES
AUTHOR : PRIYA SALVE
INTRODUCTION
• BOLLYWOOD MOVIES In India, people love Bollywood cinema because it provides a path to escape the daily struggle of a humble lifestyle.
• After a tough day, we prefer to take refuge under the shed of ‘reel’ life. Youngsters aspire to be recognized as the ‘hero/ heroine ’ of their neighborhood , couples dream of spending some quality time, perhaps in Switzerland and the elder generation wants their values to get transferred to the younger generation.
• All these things happen only in a stereotypical Bollywood movie.
• Bollywood has managed to perfectly blend itself into the value system of Indian subcontinent.
• Standard features of Bollywood films continued to be formulaic story lines, expertly choreographed fight scenes, spectacular song-and-dance routines, emotion-charged melodrama, and larger-than-life heroes.
OBJECTIVE: To compare Four Bollywood movies by doing survey regarding their favourite Bollywood movies by using ANOVA single factor . The Hypothesis are as follows :
H0 : All movies are same
H1 : any one of them are different
LITERATURE REVIEW
ARTICLE 1: The power of Bollywood: A study on opportunities, challenges, and audiences’ perceptions of Indian cinema in China
This study offered insights into Indian cinema in China from the viewpoints of local audiences while identifying five factors that make Indian films appealing, including good content-driven story, having social values, the use of star actors, positive word-of-mouth, and an additional cultural proximity advantage enjoyed by Indian films among Chinese audiences. The study did this by examining the growing popularity of Bollywood as a form of what Joseph Nye coined as “soft power.” Additionally, a number of opportunities were discovered that demonstrated the potential of and the drivers behind Bollywood films breaking through the great wall, specifically those involving distinctive Indian characteristics, China’s growing demand for socially relevant films, increased purchasing power, the established reputation of Indian films, expanding online access, and potential future opportunities for collaboration through film.{ YANYAN HONG, 2014)
Article 2: Impact of Indian cinema on culture and creation of world view among youth: A sociological analysis of Bollywood movies
This essay’s goals are to examine the ongoing cultural changes that have occurred in India over time as a result of the contributions made by Indian cinema as well as to document the influence of films and cinema on Indian culture. Additionally, an effort is made to comprehend the numerous changes that Indian cinema has brought about in terms of thought processes and lifestyles. Twenty young people from diverse universities were chosen in a purposeful sampling. The methodology used is qualitative in nature and is based on structured, in-depth interviews that allowed the respondents to express their opinions on how they understood the changes.
You shouldn’t think that Bollywood films have a bad influence on Indian culture. But the main point of the essay was to show how Bollywood introduces subtle alterations to Indian culture. It is up to the reader’s judgement to determine whether the changes are favourable or negative. In conclusion, it can be argued that there are significant changes being seen in Indian culture as a result of the movies’ profound influence. The only constant law of nature is change. In line with it, culture is also dynamic in nature and constantly changes. (Balabantaray, 2020)
