Objective: – To calculate the Beta and its Significance.
Data Collection: – The data for Equity of HUL & Nifty has been collected from NSE site for the period from 01st Jan,2022 to 31st Dec 2022.This data was cleaned edited and manipulated to find Friday closing price, The rate of change in the prices was found between each week. Rate of change in Nifty was considered as” X” and equity were considered as “Y”.
Data Analysis: – Equity (Y) = 0.14768+0.692833Nifty(x)
N=49, R2 = 0.17605, F=10.04231
The above equation tells us the relationship between nifty and equity of HUL
The positive sign shows direct relationship which means when rate of nifty increases equity of HUL increases and vice-versa. Mean square residual shows the change in y due to x which means if nifty rises by one equity will rise by 12.12994
t-sat of b is shown in bracket is (3.16896).
The P-value for this is 0.00269 which is less than 0.01 meaning ‘b’ statistically significant at 1% level. And there are 49 observations
R2 is 0.17605 which means 17% of Y is explained by X and balanced 83% is due to other reasons i.e., error.
F is 10.04231
P value for this is 0.00269 which is less than 0.01 which means that overall model is significant statistically .
Conclusion: – As Beta is more than 1 it is good for investment if nifty rises.
