TITLE OF THE PROBLEM: PANDEMIC AND EDUCATION SYSTEM
PROBLEM STATEMENT:
The pandemic and subsequent lockdown has led to a shift towards online learning which has affected the learning experience of the students.
SUB PROBLEMS:
1. Lack of concentration due to e-learning.
2. Affecting the productivity of student.
3. Lack of communication with the faculty.

INTRODUCTION:
The education around the world was quite different from traditional schooling due to the COVID-19 lockdown. The sudden change to remote teaching was inevitable which affected the learning experience of undergraduates around the world.
In the beginning of the online era, it was quite a fun but as the time passes, we came to know that it carries a major drawback which are as follow –
• Drastic shift in teaching methodology.
• Unorganised study, play, social life and many more.
• Many assignments and meeting deadline.
• All day home student use to run out of idea and it was more like prison.
OBJECTIVE:
Through this study we plan to find out the experience of the students in our batch regarding online classes and study the effects of this change from offline to online world on the life of a student.
DATA COLLECTION:
QUESTIONS:
1. I’m fully focused during online class
2. I’m motivated during online lecture and seminars
3. Online classes give me plenty of time to learn new skill
4. I look forward to attend online classes everyday
5. Online classes help me to connect easily
STORY BEHIND THE SURVEY: We, as a team, formed a questionnaire, consisting of five questions (which has to be answered on the basis of past experience) and rotated it among masses through social media. We collected 100 responses for a fair survey. We used a Likert scale to answer each question which would record the opinion of an individual ranging from 1 to 5, wherein:
We coded the data in the following manner:
1 stands for strongly disagree
2 stands for disagree
3 stands for neutral
4 stands for agree
5 stands for strongly agree
ANALYSIS:
Prob: 0.475
Z: 1.96
Formulas Used in each of the five questions:
MEAN = Sum of responses of 100 individual / Frequency of each response
STANDARD DEVIATION:
STANDARD ERROR: Standard deviation / Square root of no. of individuals
UPPER LIMIT = Mu + Z*SE (Here, Mu = mean of the figures on Likert scale i.e., 3)
LOWER LIMIT = Mu – Z*SE
After the data collected, we moved on to the calculations. Following are the pie-chart representation for each of the five questions. Each of these pie chart shows the number of responses received in favour of each of the 5 of the options attached to the Likert scale (as depicted above ranging from 1 to 5).
QUESTION 1: I am fully focused during online class.
H0: Null Hypothesis — Neutral response about the above statement
H1: First Alternate — I am fully focused during online class
H2: Second Alternate — I am not focused during online class
MEAN 2.3958
STANDARD DEVIATION 0.8141
STANDARD ERROR 0.0831
LOWER LIMIT 2.8372
UPPER LIMIT 3.1628
QUESTION 2: I am motivated during online classes and seminars.
H0: Null Hypothesis — Neutral response about the above statement
H1: First Alternate — I am motivated during online classes and seminars
H2: Second Alternate — I am not motivated during online classes and seminars
MEAN 2.4583
STANDARD DEVIATION 0.8696
STANDARD ERROR 0.0887
LOWER LIMIT 2.8261
UPPER LIMIT 3.1739
QUESTION 3: Online classes gives me plenty of time to learn new skills.
H0: Null Hypothesis — Neutral response about the above statement
H1: First Alternate — Online classes gives me plenty of time to learn new skills
H2: Second Alternate — Online classes does not give me plenty of time to learn new skills
MEAN 3.4375
STANDARD DEVIATION 0.9821
STANDARD ERROR 0.1002
LOWER LIMIT 2.8035
UPPER LIMIT 3.1965
QUESTION 4: I look forward to attend online classes every day.
H0: Null Hypothesis — Neutral response about the above statement
H1: First Alternate — I look forward to attend online classes everyday
H2: Second Alternate — I do not look forward to attend online classes everyday
MEAN 2.3958
STANDARD DEVIATION 1.0807
STANDARD ERROR 0.1103
LOWER LIMIT 2.7838
UPPER LIMIT 3.2162
QUESTION 5: Online classes helps me to connect easily.
H0: Null Hypothesis — Neutral response about the above statement
H1: First Alternate — Online classes helps me to connect easily
H2: Second Alternate — Online classes do not help me to connect easily
MEAN 2.5208
STANDARD DEVIATION 1.0856
STANDARD ERROR 0.1108
LOWER LIMIT 2.7828
UPPER LIMIT 3.2172
FINDINGS:
In all of the above questions,
If Mean > Upper Limit, we accept alternate 1, i.e.: H1
If Mean is between the lower limit and upper limit, we accept the null hypothesis, i.e., H0
If Mean < Lower Limit, we accept the alternate 2, i.e.: H2
So according to the above statements, after the analysis, we come to the following conclusions about the survey:
For question 1: People are not focused during online classes (Mean < Lower Limit)
For question 2: People are not motivated during online lectures and seminars (Mean Upper Limit)
For question 4: People do not look forward to attend online classes everyday (Mean < Lower Limit)
For question 5: Online classes do not help people connect easily. (Mean < Lower Limit)
