Introduction: The acceptance of electric vehicles (EVs) in the Indian market has witnessed a notable uptick in recent years. Fueled by environmental concerns, governments incentives and technological advancements, consumers are increasingly embracing EVs as a viable and sustainable mode of transportation. Initiatives such as subsidies, charging infrastructure development and awareness campaigns have played pivotal roles in encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles. Despite challenges, the Indian market exhibits a growing openness towards EVs, reflecting a promising shift towards a greener and more sustainable automotive e future.   

Objective: To understand the underlying phenomena of this problem

Literature Review: The Indian market reveals a growing interest in factors influencing consumer adoption. Studies highlight concerns such as charging infrastructure, range anxiety, and cost as significant barriers. Additionally, cultural and social perceptions, government policies and environmental awareness play pivotal roles in shaping consumer attitudes towards EVs. Ongoing research emphasizes the need for targeted interventions to address these challenges and promote widespread EV adoption in India.

Testing of Hypothesis:

H: μ = 3

H1 :  μ ≠ 3

Data Collection:

  1. Electric vehicles contribute to a cleaner environment by reducing air pollution
  2. The cost of owing and maintaining an electric vehicle is a significant barrier for widespread adoption
  3. Government incentives and subsidies play a crucial role in encouraging people to switch to electric vehicle
  4. The current charging infrastructure for electric vehicles is sufficient and convenient for everyday use
  5. Electric vehicles have the potential to revolutionize the automotive industry in the next decade

These 5 questions were put on the google form and the form was circulated. For every question mean, standard deviation, standard error, and t-stat was calculated.

Conclusion

Result-  t-statistic provided is 1.38, it falls within the range of -1.96 to 1.96, we conclude that people are neutral regarding the alternative hypothesis.

Since the z-score (0.138) is between -1.96 and 1.96, people are neutral regarding the contribution to cleaner environment by reducing air pollution. There’s no strong positive or negative sentiment indicated by the data.

 

Ques 2.  The cost of owning and maintaining an electric vehicles is a significant barrier for widespread adoption

Result- Since the z-score (0.30) is between -1.96 and 1.96, people are neutral regarding the cost of owning and maintaining. There’s no strong positive or negative sentiment indicated by the data.
