Introduction:  Exam stress is a common phenomenon that affects students of all ages. It is completely normal to feel anxious or stressed before and during an exam, as exams are often seen as a test of ones knowledge, skills, and abilities. However when stress becomes overwhelming, it can have negative effects on a students performance and overall well-being. A positive mindset helps in managing stress and anxiety, allowing students to approach exams with a clam demeanor by reducing stress levels can enhance cognitive function and memory recall, leading to better performance.

Objectives: To understand the underlying phenomena of this problem.

Literature review: Students can prepare in advance for examinations, try to get organized  by making schedule and stick on it, take a break during sessions to give your mind a chance to rest, go for a walk , listen music, try to get adequate sleep to support your physical and mental well-being, practice test-taking strategy etc.

Testing of Hypothesis:

Ho: μ=3

H1: µ≠3

Data collection:

  1. How rarely you experience stress during exam periods?
  2. How will you engage in stress- relief activities during the exam season?
  3. How current stress management strategies during exams are extremely effective?
  4. Did you believe in incorporating stress management education into the college curriculum that are extremely important?
  5. Do you believe in stress during exams does not impact academic performance at all?

 

These 5 questions are asked in google form to students and for every question standard deviation, standard error, mean and t-stat was calculated.

Data analysis:

  1. How rarely you experience stress during exam periods?

  • t-stat is 1.41 which means we reject the null hypothesis and t is Positive less than 1.96. It means student should engage in stress relief activity
  1. How current stress management strategies during exams are extremely effective?
  • t-stat is 2.67 which means we accept the positive hypothesis and t is positive more than 1.96. It means stress management strategies are extremely effective.
  1. Did you believe in incorporating stress management education into college curriculum that are extremely important?
  • T-stat is 9.63 which means we accept the alternative hypothesis and t is positive more than 1.96. It means college curriculum is important.
  1. Do you believe in stress during exams does not impact academic performance at all?
  • T-stat is -0.67 which means we rejects the alternative hypothesis and t is negative less than 1.96. It means stress during exam impact academic performance.
