Will Artificial Intelligence replace human jobs in the future?
Nelson Todd (2023, Feb 02) states that Artificial intelligence (AI) — or computers that imitate human intelligence in performing tasks — already has a growing presence in several industries. AI in the near future is likely to take on low-skilled jobs. The problem with AI, simply put, is that it isn’t human. AI lacks the creativity, intuition, and judgment that enable people to “connect the dots” in unexpected ways that can lead to innovation.

The threat posed by automation
William Reville (2017, Mar 16) states that Deep learning is making rapid progress in training artificial neural networks, which are computer networks of artificial neurons (mathematical functions) arranged in layers, mimicking the human brain organization of densely connected biological neurons (brain cells). The most routine jobs are most at risk. In the following occupations, the figure in brackets is the probability it will become automated, where 1.0 is certain: dentists (0.004), clergy (0.008), editors (0.06), actors (0.37), economists (0.43), machinists (0.56), typists (0.81), retail sales (0.92), accountants/auditors (0.94).

Will AI replace humans in Customer Service?
Kevin Nguyen (2023) states that Chatbots and digital assistants are the areas of AI that are currently most often employed. Customers are gradually beginning to find these characteristics to be trustworthy and useful. They are there to support and assist people when they need it, not to entirely replace people. AI-powered chatbots can solve many simple and minor difficulties, leaving customer care to handle more complicated problems. Compared to a standard human-driven help desk, this method is far more effective and time-saving. Despite having access to these services, customers still prefer to speak with a live person before buying. Customers’ preference for in-person sales encounters can be attributed to several factors. AI won’t entirely replace humans in the early future. We believe that combining AI and humans is the perfect solution. Since AI and humans can do various duties, it would be beneficial for online retailers to incorporate their advantages into their business strategies.

AI will never replace human creativity
Ryan Coogan (2023, Jun 18) states that the core issue with the current movement towards AI art: it’s clearly being championed by a group of people who both don’t understand art and resent people who do. If your understanding of art is that “more painting equals more good” then you shouldn’t even be a part of the conversation in the first place, and yet at the moment, they seem to dominate it. As a tool to be used by humans, AI could absolutely have a wide variety of uses. It can provide a useful framework or starting point for actual creativity, in the same way that idly scrolling through Twitter can provide inspiration for a rant about the dangers of AI art. But if you’re under the impression that it can improve on or entirely supplant human creativity altogether – or worse, if you’re excited about that prospect – then it only proves one thing: you never understood art to begin with.

Can AI replace teachers?
Rachna Manojkumar Dhanrajani (2023, May 28) states that Edtech companies are also jumping on the bandwagon. Coursera is creating a ChatGPT virtual coach to answer questions, give feedback, summarise video lectures, give career advice, and prepare students for job interviews. This feature will be available in the coming months. “AI and ML are the top job generators and we have seen increased interest from companies as well as professionals in learning about it. AI is unlikely to fully replace human teachers in the classroom. Content is available on the Internet also, so why is a student coming to class? That’s because the intervention between the student and the information available is the teacher. A teacher inspires and motivates students, creates a safe and supportive classroom environment, and helps students develop critical thinking skills, creativity, and social skills. All of that, from AI, seems really far away.

The future of artificial intelligence and its impact on society.
DiStefano and Joseph (2023, May 15) state that The tech-business group summoned technologists to make sense of the disorientingly rapid growth of programs like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Bard, which process online sources to create quick, detailed narratives from user’s questions. They are designed to “learn” from repeated use, improving over time. The human brain will always matter, Even if you get close to replicating it, you shouldn’t, because there are things the machine shouldn’t do. There are some scary scenarios in the wrong hands. Machines will continually help people be more efficient and effective.

ChatGPT, Bing, and Bard will push creativity, and take over mundane jobs so that humans can do better
Anuj Bhatia (2023, Feb 19) states that AI is nowhere close to replacing humans, but humans using AI in a smart way will definitely be going to replace humans who don’t use it. AI bots can help boost creativity if you know how to take advantage of them. It’s impressive how ChatGPT or AI-powered Bing can produce remarkable results, making searching faster and smoother, given their ability to converse like humans. These AI chatbots still make factual mistakes. Chatbots output words in a probabilistic manner, sometimes the answer is factually wrong. No matter how advanced these chatbots become, they cannot replace a journalist yet. When you are a journalist, fact-checking is one of your key skills and that is not yet implemented in AI tools like ChatGPT.

Will employees be replaced by artificial intelligence?
Deanna Cuadra (2023) states that If you feel AI is going to be a big piece of the puzzle for your company, invest in training your employees, Ultimately, it will be vital for all companies to get some training and show employees how to use these tools. As artificial intelligence chatbots like ChatGPT take hold of the workplace, employers and employees alike are questioning the future of business – namely, whether AI will serve as a tool for workers, or as their replacement. If employees feel their company wants to replace them with AI, then they will likely be against adopting the technology into their workflow.

The Synergy of AI and the Human Mind
Aanchal Mathur. (2023, Oct 13) states that In the age of rapid technological advancement, artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a powerful ally in augmenting and unleashing the full potential of human intelligence. AI has emerged as a game-changer, reshaping the landscape of industries both large and small. The synergy between AI and human cognition has the potential to transform industries, solve complex problems, and push the boundaries of what humans can achieve. As AI continues to evolve, it is crucial to consider the ethical implications of AI and human collaboration. Ensuring responsible AI development, ethical data use, and maintaining human agency over AI systems are essential for the harmonious integration of AI into our lives. AI’s ability to process data and enhance productivity has the potential to unlock the full power of human intelligence. By leveraging AI humans can embark on a journey of endless discovery and achievement, ushering in a future where the boundaries of human potential are limited only by our imagination and ethical considerations.

AI will replace human decision-making
K.R Srivats (2020, Nov 04) states that AI has matured and is now embedded in all use cases. Hence, a few years from now, it will replace human decision-making in many processes. Automation has replaced human repetitive tasks, but AI will replace decisions (by humans) and will do it better in most cases. Quality and availability of data — both structured and unstructured — is a larger barrier to AI adoption. While text data is sketchy, good-quality photos and voice samples of the customer are almost non-existent. Data consciousness has pervaded companies in the last five years. Most social data is concentrated with a few companies. Storing relevant data and retrieving it, cataloging it, governing it, collecting it, and cleaning it are the foundation requirements for AI. Other barriers include measurement of RoI and clarity of expectations of the project.

Conclusion– In conclusion, Artificial intelligence (AI) is getting really smart and helpful, but it won’t completely replace humans anytime soon. It’s really good at doing repetitive tasks and working with data. But, it can’t do things that need human imagination or understanding.
Some jobs that are very routine might be done by AI in the future. Like some auditing or writing jobs. But jobs that need a personal touch, like being a teacher or talking to customers, are safer from being taken over by AI. AI can be a helpful tool, especially in jobs that involve a lot of information or answering common questions. But, people still like talking to other people when it’s something important or complicated.

It’s important to use AI in a responsible and fair way. We should work together with AI to do things better, not let it do everything for us. The future will be about people and AI teaming up to do amazing things!
