Title – Comparison of four top-rated web series
Author – Roshni Prakash Kahate
Introduction – Web series refer to television series that are produced and distributed exclusively on the internet. They are typically shorter in length than traditional TV shows, and they are often made available all at once for viewers to binge-watch. Web series have become increasingly popular in recent years due to their accessibility and convenience. They are often produced independently or by streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu, among others. Web series cover a wide range of genres and topics and are enjoyed by viewers of all ages.
Objective – To compare the 4 top-rated web series.
To test Hypothesis
H0: All are same.
H1: Any one of them is different.
Literature Review – 1. Web Series: The Impact of Age on the Time of Watching Web-Series
The research paper focuses on the relationship between age groups and their viewing habits of web series as a source of entertainment and learning. Web series are becoming increasingly popular among all age groups due to their convenience and ease of access. The research aimed to identify the reasons behind people’s viewing habits and the preferred time for watching web series. The sample size for the study was 300 respondents from the Delhi-NCR region. The results of the study provided valuable insights into the viewership patterns of web series and how they were being consumed by different age groups. (Grover & Kadam,2019)
2. Game of Thrones resists Neoliberal Ideology
The research paper examines how the popular TV series Game of Thrones reflects or resists neoliberal ideology. Through a content analysis, the study was focused on power, wealth, and class within the series and finds that it criticizes neoliberalism but does not offer an alternative solution. The paper argued that the series’ ending contradicts its earlier criticisms and weakens its ability to be taken up as a critique of neoliberalism by its audience. Overall, the study suggested that while Game of Thrones’ narrative does not fit the mold of neoliberal discourse, its ending undermined its ability to challenge dominant ideology effectively. Data Collection – For this report, 4 web series were taken in consideration, students of MMS-MBA (First Year) of JDBIMS were asked to rate those series on a scale of 1-10, rating by 40 students was collected while doing the survey and the one-way ANOVA was calculated using data analysis.
Data Analysis – Calculated one-way ANOVA
Between Groups: Sum of Squares (SS) = 62.17; Degree of Freedom (df) = 3; Mean Sum of Square (MSS) = 20.7265; F = 4.0395; P-value = 0.008494; F crit = 2.66
Within Groups: SS = 779.89; df = 152; MSS = 5.1309
Conclusion – The value of F = 4.03 which is greater than F crit = 2.66
Therefore, reject H0 and accept H1
Hypothesis: Alternate Hypothesis i.e., Any one of the four web-series is different.
