INTRODUCTION:- <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Sports play an important role in the physical, mental, and social development of youngsters. In today\u2019s modern lifestyle, the preference of youngsters towards different sports is influenced by various factors such as media exposure, popularity of sports personalities, availability of facilities, and peer groups. Among various sports, Cricket, Football, Hockey, and Basketball are some of the most popular and widely played games in India. Understanding which sport is more preferred by youngsters helps in planning sports infrastructure, organizing events, and promoting balanced participation in physical activities. Therefore, this study attempts to analyze the preference of youngsters towards these four sports using primary data collected through a Google Form survey of 45 respondents and applying Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) as a statistical tool<\/span><\/p>\n

To analyze and compare the preference of youngsters towards Cricket, Football, Hockey, and Basketball using ANOVA based on primary data collected from 45 respondents.<\/span><\/p>\n

Literature Review:-<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>G\u00fcler (2023)<\/span><\/i> found that among school-aged children, preferences for specific sports varied significantly, with team sports such as football and basketball often more popular than less accessible options, indicating that availability and familiarity influence youth sport choice. <\/span><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Fr\u00f6mel et al. (2022)<\/span><\/i> reported that team sports, particularly football and basketball, dominated the preferences of adolescents in European youth populations, highlighting how social and cultural environments shape sports participation trends<\/span><\/p>\n

DATA COLLECTION:<\/span><\/b>–<\/span><\/p>\n

The study is based on primary data collected through a structured questionnaire using Google Forms. The respondents were asked to rate their preference for four selected sports\u2014Cricket, Football, Hockey, and Basketball\u2014on a 1 to 10 rating scale, where 1 indicates very low preference and 10 indicates very high preference. A total of 45 respondents participated in the survey. Equal numbers of observations were maintained for each sport to ensure balanced data suitable for ANOVA analysis. The collected data was then compiled, coded, and organized systematically for statistical analysis and interpretation<\/span><\/p>\n

Ho(Null Hypothesis):- <\/span><\/b>There is no significance difference in students rating among sports preference.<\/span><\/p>\n

H1(Alternative Hypothesis):-<\/span><\/b> \u00a0<\/span>At least one sport differs significantly from others.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since P-Value (0.244) is greater than 0.05, we accept the null hypothesis (Ho). This indicates that there is no statistically significant difference in students rating among the 4 sports preference.<\/span><\/p>\n

Conclusion:- <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The study was conducted to analyze and compare the preference of youngsters towards Cricket, Football, Hockey, and Basketball using ANOVA based on primary data. The results of the analysis indicate that there is no significant difference in the preference levels of students among the selected sports. This suggests that youngsters show almost equal interest in all four sports, and no single sport dominates clearly over the others in terms of overall preference. The findings highlight that sports awareness and interest among youngsters is well distributed, which is a positive sign for the balanced development and promotion of multiple sports rather than dependence on only one game.<\/span><\/p>\n
