Plastic overuse has grown to be a significant environmental issue in the modern world. Overuse of plastic pollutes land and water, endangering ecosystems and wildlife. Plastic stays in the environment for hundreds of years since it is not biodegradable. Waste and health dangers are rising due to the growing reliance on single-use plastics. Thus, cutting back on plastic consumption is crucial for a sustainable future.<\/span><\/p>\n

Plastics addiction: humanity\u2019s Existential Crisis<\/span><\/p>\n

Plastic’s been around for a century, and we’ve gone from loving it to being crazy about it, and now we’re basically addicted. Problem is, it’s killing us – harming humans, animals, plants, and the whole ecosystem. Every piece of plastic made is still hanging around, polluting oceans and landfills for thousands of years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Plastic’s gone from being a wonder material to a major environmental problem.We’re now trying to undo our addiction to it, exploring solutions like reducing use, substituting materials, and changing how we discard it. But plastic’s history shows it wasn’t always like this – it took effort to make it ubiquitous and mundane. The “Plastics Age” defines our civilization, with plastic’s impact shaped by socio – technical and socio – material factors. Can we reconfigure our relationship with plastic to save the planet? <\/span><\/p>\n

To understand the underlying issue of Over usage of Plastics following five questions <\/span>were<\/span>\u00a0formed on <\/span>L<\/span>ike<\/span>r<\/span>t scale (5<\/span>.<\/span>scale)<\/span><\/p>\n

A google form<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>was formed in linear scale. Data was coded as 5 for strongly agree, 4 for agree, 3 for neutral, 2 for disagree and 1 for strongly disagree. 100 student of ITM w<\/span>ere<\/span>\u00a0surveyed and data was dowloaded as Excel sheet<\/span>, <\/span>for each question:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Mean,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Standard Deviation,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Standard Error and Tst<\/span>at<\/span>\u00a0w<\/span>as<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>c<\/span>alculated<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q1. I prefer products with biodegradable packaging.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q2. I try to avoid products with excessive plastic packaging.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q4. We should increase recycling rates to tackle plastic waste.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q5. We should impose heavy fines on those who litter plastic. <\/span><\/p>\n
