Placement cells play a crucial role in connecting students with employment opportunities and preparing them for the professional world. Students expect placement cells to provide timely job information, career guidance, and skill development support. They also look for training activities such as mock interviews and strong industry tie-ups. Understanding these expectations helps institutions improve placement effectiveness and student employability.<\/span><\/p>\n

Objectives of the Study<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>To examine students\u2019 expectations regarding regular updates and communication of job opportunities by the placement cell.<\/span><\/p>\n

Literature Review <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Previous studies highlight that placement cells play a crucial role in enhancing students\u2019 employability by providing career guidance, training, and industry exposure. Kumar and Sharma (2020) found that students expect placement cells to organize skill development programs such as mock interviews and aptitude training to improve placement readiness. Reddy and Gupta (2019) emphasized that timely communication of job opportunities and strong industry linkages significantly influence students\u2019 satisfaction with placement services. Overall, the literature suggests that effective placement cells focus on holistic career support rather than only conducting recruitment drives.<\/span><\/p>\n

Data Collection <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The following questions were used to collect primary data from respondents regarding their expectations from the placement cell. Responses were recorded using a Likert scale.<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. I expect the placement cell to provide regular updates about job opportunities.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. The placement cell should organize mock interviews and GD sessions<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. I expect guidance from the placement cell on career planning.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. The placement cell should focus on improving students\u2019 employability skills.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. I expect the placement cell to bring more core and relevant companies.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The Data was quoted as 5 for strongly agree, 4 for agree, 3 for neutral, 2 for disagree and 1 for strongly disagree.<\/span><\/p>\n

    110 <\/span><\/b>students of ITM<\/b> were surveyed and data was collected as csv file.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

    There is a significant difference between the mean score of students\u2019 expectations from the placement cell.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Thus, the null hypothesis is rejected for some variables and accepted for others, indicating varying levels of student expectations across different placement cell functions.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Conclusion<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

    The study indicates that students have significant expectations from placement cells, especially in bringing core and relevant companies for placements. However, dissatisfaction is observed in the regular communication of job opportunities. Overall, the findings suggest a need for improved communication, stronger industry linkages, and enhanced placement support to better meet students\u2019 expectations.<\/span><\/p>\n
