It examines technology use both in classrooms and at home, highlighting that while schools and families invest heavily in technology, its effectiveness in improving educational outcomes remains uncertain. Studies on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) investment in schools show mixed results, with notable gains in math-related subjects, particularly in developing countries. Home computer access is also increasing globally, but disparities persist, raising concerns about the “Digital Divide.” While some research finds positive effects on grades and graduation rates, others indicate that computers can be distractions, displacing traditional learning activities. The paper underscores the need for more rigorous studies to determine when and how technology effectively enhances education.

The Rise of Indian Software Technology Multinationals

Pradhan, Jaya Prakash (2007), The article explores the emergence of Indian Information and Software Technology (IST) multinationals, driven by outward foreign direct investment (FDI). Using the National Innovation System (NIS) framework, it highlights how government policies, skill formation, institutional support, and firm-level strategies have contributed to the rise of Indian IST firms in the global market. The study traces the industry’s evolution, from early public sector investments to policy reforms that facilitated international expansion. It examines the geographic spread, ownership patterns, and competitive strategies of leading Indian IST multinationals, with case studies on Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and HCL Technologies. The findings suggest that developing countries seeking to build their own IST industries must create a conducive innovation ecosystem with strong infrastructure, government support, and an outward-looking policy regime.

Data Collection:

The data for HCL Technologies and Nifty50 was collected for the period from 01-01-2024 to 31-12-2024. The positive coefficient of 0.75 indicates that for every unit increase in Nifty50, HCL Technologies’ share price is expected to increase by 0.75 units. With 47 observations, the model’s R-squared value is 0.14, suggesting that approximately 14.3% of the variation in HCL Technologies’ share price can be explained by changes in Nifty50, while the remaining 85.7% is attributable to other factors not included in the model. The p-value for the slope is 0.0089, which is below the 0.05 threshold, indicating that the relationship between Nifty50 and HCL Technologies’ share price is statistically significant at the 5% level. The standard error of 3.092 reflects moderate variability in the data. The confidence interval for the coefficient ranges from 0.19 to 1.31, indicating the expected change in HCL Technologies’ stock price per unit change in Nifty50.

Conclusion:

HCL Technologies’ beta of 0.75 indicates that it is moderate than the market (Nifty 50) returns and hence, it is better suited for long-term investment.

Reference:

Bulman, George & Fairlie, Robert W.
