Problem Introduction:
Plastic waste has become a staggering global issue, with millions of tons of plastic polluting our oceans, waterways, and landscapes. The rapid production and disposal of plastic products have severe consequences for the environment, wildlife, and human health. Single-use plastics, in particular, have become a major contributor to the problem. As the world grapples with this crisis, it’s essential to understand the scope of the issue and work towards sustainable solutions. The impact of plastic waste is far-reaching, and immediate action is necessary to mitigate its effects. Effective waste management and reduced plastic consumption are critical steps towards a cleaner, healthier future.
Objective : To understand the underlying issues of the problem.
Literature Review :
1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Plastic waste management \ud83d\ude41 Rizki et al , 1992-2022 ) states that\u00a0 plastic waste management research, highlights the increasing concern about plastic pollution and its harmful effects on the environment. It identifies important researchers, journals, and institutions that have contributed to understanding different waste management methods, such as recycling and biodegradation. The study also examines the impact of microplastics on ecosystems and the role of policies and advanced technologies in reducing plastic waste. Over time, research on this issue has grown significantly, reflecting a strong interest in finding effective solutions. The findings show that plastic waste remains a major challenge despite efforts to manage it properly. Overall, it emphasizes the urgent need for sustainable solutions to protect the environment.<\/p>\n
2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Plastic waste recycling – ( Alaghemandi , 2024 ) emphasize that\u00a0 innovative plastic waste recycling technologies as solutions to the growing environmental crisis caused by plastic pollution. Traditional methods like landfilling and mechanical recycling are inadequate, leading to a push for advanced techniques such as chemical recycling, which breaks plastics into monomers, and biological methods using enzymes and microorganisms to degrade resistant plastics. AI-powered sorting and compatibilization strategies also improve recycling efficiency.\u00a0\u00a0 However, challenges like scalability, policy support, and public awareness must be addressed for widespread adoption.<\/p>\n
Data collection:
To understand the above problem 5 questions were framed on Likert scale and students of Kohinoor Business School were approached and 100 students were surveyed.<\/p>\n

1.People are negative towards separating plastic waste from other waste .
2. People gave negative inclination towards using reusable bags
3. People acted\u00a0\u00a0 neutral towards generating plastic waste regularly.
4. People respond neutral towards difficult to reduce use of single use plastics.
5. People are neutral towards confusion on which plastic can be recycled<\/p>\n
