The study highlights that affirmative action through reservations has led to a substantial rise in enrolment rates among Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC), particularly in public universities. However, the research also points out that while reservations have helped bridge the gap in educational opportunities, disparities in primary and secondary education quality still pose challenges. Many students from reserved categories enter higher education with weaker academic foundations, necessitating additional support systems such as remedial coaching and mentorship programs to ensure their academic success.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Their study, based on enrolment data from multiple universities, finds that reserved category students have seen a significant increase in representation, particularly in fields like engineering, medicine, and social sciences. However, the research also identifies regional disparities, with urban institutions showing higher success rates in implementing reservation policies effectively compared to <\/span>rural areas.
