Whether a media message has an effect on any of its audience members is contingent on many factors, including audience demographics and psychological characteristics.

Literature review:

This delves into how social media affects people and society. It looks at how we communicate, form identities, interact socially, and feel about ourselves. Social media can connect us but also lead to shallow interactions and fake identities. It offers new ways to make friends but also risks like bullying and lies. Some research suggests it can make us feel good, but it also has downsides like spreading fake news and invading our privacy. Understanding these effects is important for using social media wisely and dealing with its problems.

Data collection

Aim 1: Do you believe social media impacts the mental well-being of young individuals?.

Aim 2: Do you agree that social media can contribute to feelings of loneliness or isolation?

Aim 3: Do you think constant exposure to idealized images on social media affects self-esteem?

Aim 4: Do you think exposure to inappropriate content on social media can be harmful to young minds?

Aim 5: Do you agree that social media can contribute to a fear of missing out (FOMO)?

We got 108 responses in the google forms survey.

Data analysis

For every statement: mean, standard deviation, standard error, and t-stat were calculated.
