As AI technologies advance, they are increasingly automating routine tasks, leading to the displacement of certain human roles. This transformation brings about both opportunities and challenges, requiring a careful balance between leveraging AI for increased efficiency and addressing concerns related to job displacement. The evolving nature of work in the age of AI necessitates adaptability, upskilling, and a thoughtful approach to ensure a harmonious coexistence between humans and machines in the modern workspace.

PROBLEM STATEMENT:

Will AI act as a substitute for the human workforce and will replace humans in the coming years?

OBJECTIVES:

1) To examine the current and potential future effects of AI on employment rates.

2) To evaluate the adaptability of societies to the changing nature of work driven by AI.

LITERATURE REVIEW:

Article 1: THE IMPACT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ON THE FUTURE OF WORKFORCES IN THE EUROPEAN UNION AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. (An economic study prepared in response to the US-EU Trade and Technology Council Inaugural Joint Statement)

According to these papers the AI technology is widely adopted across various job fields. It’s commonly used in industries such as healthcare, finance, marketing, manufacturing, and customer service. AI technologies, including machine learning and natural language processing, have applications in tasks ranging from data analysis to automation and decision-making support. But it doesn’t have the ability to completely replace AI. The final management and quality check purposes remain with the humans. Also, it is difficult to check the ground realities of the job and it doesn’t consider emotions. Thus chances of AI totally replacing humans are far less likely to be true.

Article 2: RESEARCH PAPER ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE & ITS APPLICATIONS.

By Prof. Neha Saini

Assistant Professor in Department of Computer Science & IT.

SDAM College Dina Nagar.

According to this paper, the AI technology is currently being adopted in following sectors:

Machine Learning.

Natural Language Processing (NLP).

Automation & Robotics.

Machine Vision.

Knowledge-Based Systems (KBS).

Neural Networks

DATA COLLECTION:

Firstly, we carried out a survey at our ITM campus about people’s perspective about AI. We carried out this survey on google forms.

We took the reviews of the people by providing them with a linear scale of ‘Strongly Agree’ to ‘Strongly Disagree’.

We got various reviews of the people and got to know that people had various perspectives about the AI taking over human’s jobs in upcoming years. Further we converted the google form responses into the excel file and rated the linear scale from 1 to 5 (Strongly disagree to Strongly Agree) respectively. Thus our stage 1: Collection of data was successfully completed.

DATA ANALYSIS:

STATEMENTS

MEAN

STANDARD

DEVIATION

STANDARD

ERROR

T STAT (Z)

RESULTS

1

3.49

0.77

0.08

6.35

Accept H1

2

3.60

0.62

0.06

9.68

Accept H1

3

3.18

0.82

0.08

2.19

Accept H1

4

3.67

0.55

0.06

12.15

Accept H1

5

3.79

0.52

0.05

15.24

Accept H1

CONCLUSION:

Statement 1 – AI will significantly reduce opportunities in the next 10 years.

For statement 1, as T-stat is 6.35 which is more than 1.96, we accept the alternate hypothesis.

Therefore, it can be concluded that AI is going to have a significant impact on employment.

Statement 2 – Human- offered services bring greater customer satisfaction than AI.

For statement 2, as T-stat is 9.68 which is more than 1.96, we accept the alternate hypothesis.

Therefore, it can be concluded that customers feel more satisfies and safe when services are rendered by human rather than AI.

Statement 3 – Overall, AI will create more new jobs than it eliminates.

For statement 3, as T-stat is 2.19 which is more than 1.96, we accept the alternate hypothesis.

Therefore, we can conclude that AI is a means for the creation of new jobs if handled appropriately and not a thing to run from.

Statement 4 – Government should prioritize retraining programs for AI-impacted workers.

For statement 4, as T-stat is 12.15 which is more than 1.96, we accept the alternate hypothesis.

Therefore, it can be concluded that Government should play a role and should come in favor of workers who became jobless due to AI by introducing various retraining programs.

Statement 5 – Technical skills will be the most important factor for success in the AI era.

For statement 5, as T-stat is 15.24 which is more than 1.96, we accept the alternate hypothesis.

From the results it can be concluded that technical skills remain the most important factor for the people to not lose their jobs and rather learn to use AI and make the working more effective.

REFERENCES:

Abid A., M.
