Mankind Pharma Limited is\u00a0a pharmaceutical company that was founded in 1986 and incorporated
in 1991. The company’s founder is Ramesh Juneja, a well-known pharmaceutical industry leader.
Mankind Pharma’s goal is to create a healthy community by developing, commercializing, and
delivering affordable and accessible medicines.\u00a0The company has manufacturing and distribution
facilities in 34 countries and sells over 1,000 products in 17 therapeutic areas.\u00a0
As of December 31, 2022, Mankind Pharma has 25 manufacturing facilities across India, with 4,121
manufacturing personnel. The company’s motto is “Serving Life”.<\/p>\n
Objective:
To Calculate Beta(\u03b2) and its significance of the equity stock of Mankind Pharma Ltd.<\/p>\n
Data Collection:<\/p>\n
Data was downloaded from nseindia.com for 01\/11\/2022 to 31\/10\/2023 for Nifty as well as for
Mankind Pharma Ltd. All the columns were deleted for both the sheets except date and closing price
and the Friday closing price were found for both. Returns for X and Y were calculated, X being Nifty
and Y being Mankind Pharma Ltd. Finally, data analysis was done.
Weekly returns of Nifty = X
Weekly returns of Mankind Pharma Ltd. Equity = Y
Linear Regression was carried out.
Data Analysis: –
The regression equation has the form:
Y = a + b*X
Where, Y is the dependent variable,
X is the independent variable,
a is the intercept,
b is the slope.
In our case Mankind Pharma Ltd. is the dependent variable and Nifty 50 is the independent variable.
Intercept, a = -1.01603
Slope, b = -0.01381
R Square = 0.005583<\/p>\n
F = 0.123516
So, the regression equation is given by-
Y (Mankind Pharma Ltd.) = -1.01603 + -0.01381* X (Nifty)
The above equation shows us the relationship between Mankind Pharma Ltd. and Nifty. The positive
sign indicates that if Nifty rises then the price of Mankind Pharma Ltd. shares will also rise and vice-
versa. If Nifty rises one unit i.e., Nifty rises by one rupee then Equity will lessen by -0.01381
and vice versa. t-stat for b (co-efficient of Nifty) is -0.35145 and the p-value is 0.728596, statistically
significant for Equity at 0.72% level. The number of observations is 25.<\/p>\n
Conclusion: –
Beta is -0.01381, which is lower than 1, it means Mankind Pharma Ltd. Is not good for short-term
investment.<\/p>\n
