INTRODUCTION – Food safety in canteen is important to prevent the food intoxication and food borne disease. The important factors on food safety are hygiene and sanitation of canteen. Canteen hygiene and sanitation consist several aspects, such as building sanitation facilities, tools, food and food handler\u2019s hygiene.<\/p>\n
OBJECTIVE \u2013 To understand the phenomenon health and hygiene issues of canteen faced by students.<\/p>\n
LITERATURE REVIEW \u2013
\n1.Childhood Overweight
\n Childhood overweight and obesity have increased alarmingly in recent decades all over the world. In response to the obesity epidemic, several states and governments have introduced restrictions on sales of high-calorie low-nutrient-dense foods and beverages in canteens. Most school canteens around the world continue to offer such unhealthy products. In fact, sales of junk food represent an important source of revenues for schools, especially in contexts of budgetary pressure. Alarmingly, in canteen junk food\/beverage availability is positively correlated with overall junk food\/beverage consumption and negatively correlated with overall healthy food intakes. In conclusion, banning sales of unhealthy products in canteen is a useful tool to fight against the worldwide increase in childhood overweight.
\n2.Canteen Takeaway
\nEstimate the willingness to pay for a new intervention at the workplace: wholesome canteen takeaways, i.e. a low fat meal with a large amount of vegetables prepared at the workplace canteen that only requires re-heating. Two surveys were carried out in Denmark; one large-scale Internet based survey and one survey at a workplace that introduced CTA. The results from the large-scale survey suggest that this concept attracts relevant target groups; groups of individuals with a less healthy diet, low physical activity and a high body mass index. The workplace study, carried out at a hospital, found that females have a significantly higher WTP for CTA compared with males. <\/p>\n
DATA COLLECTION \u2013 The following five questions were prepared on Likert scale, and responses were collected using google form.
