TITLE: – RATE THE 4 HORROR MOVIE WITH ANOVA TABLE

AUTHOR: – PRANJALI. RAJESHKUMAR. RAI

INTRODUCTION: –
Watching a horror film gives an opening into that scary world, into an outlet for the essence of fear itself, without actually being in danger. Weird as it sounds, there’s a very real thrill and fun factor in being scared or watching disturbing, horrific images. A study published in the Journal of Media Psychology found that people watch scary movies for three main reasons: tension, relevance, and unrealism. … Those who like horror due to its “unrealism” enjoy it because they know for a fact that it’s all fake anyway. For them, it’s just pure entertainment and fun.
OBJECTIVES: –
Horror film is a genre that aims to create a sense of fear, panic, alarm, and dread for the audience. These films are often unsettling and rely on scaring the audience through a portrayal of their worst fears and nightmares. Horror films usually centre on the arrival of an evil force, person, or event. The objectives of horror films are to highlight unconscious fears, desire, urges, and primeval archetypes that are buried deep in our collective subconscious – images of mothers and shadows play important roles because they are common to us all.
LITERATURE REVIEW: –
• Well, if you have not been drinking the cool aid or have not watched more than 3 horror movies or have just a low bar when it comes to “entertainment” than you might rate this higher than I have. Good for you, but generally speaking and let’s keep it real here: this is not good by any standard. Maybe the cinematography, but that’s about it. The acting is weak, the script is weak, there are no big effects here. And while the characters are not teenagers, they act as if they were (brainless) but even worse: their charisma level is below zero. And likeable is also different. Of course, you can take a couple of things in consideration, like this being apparently the directorial debut and so forth. But that is up to you. I’m not judging the director based on one movie, this end product however is very uninspired …
• Finally watched Horror Story off Netflix. It’s a strange India horror movie that takes place in a hospital when a group of friends get trapped while researching an old tale. They uncover a series of strange past events inside the venue unlocking several spirits that kill them off one by one. The storyline is straightforward and the special effects were fairly mediocre. There are a few of the cheap jump scenes you catch yourself rolling your eyes at in these types of movies. The other thing that was annoying is these goes in and out of the characters speaking English, as in the character will speak two sentences in English then 10 in subtitles, but during their subtitles the person they’re talking to may respond in English…keeps you on your toes. Overall, this is a below addition to the genre. I’d give it a 5/10.

Within Groups 537.85 156 3.447756

Total 540.975 159

DATA ANALYSIS: –
As we know that from above Anova calculation, Tabulated value of F for 5% significance level, Degree of freedom of Numerator 3 and Denominator 156.
F = 2.66

CONCLUSION: –
We had Calculated value of Anova is greater than the tabulated value, so, we reject Ho and accept H1 and we conclude that there is a significant difference in the variance. Hence, horror movie is not liked by everyone, some may like it for suspense and its stories, some like for their comedy and graphic and there are some people don’t like horror because it’s too scary.
