Introduction:
An over-the-top (OTT) media service is a streaming media service offered directly to viewers via the Internet. OTT bypasses cable, broadcast, and satellite television platforms, the companies that traditionally act as a controller or distributor of such content. It has also been used to describe no-carrier cell phones, where all communications are charged as data, avoiding monopolistic competition, or apps for phones that transmit data in this manner, including both those that replace other call methods and those that update software.

OTT also encompasses a wave of “skinny” television services that offer access to live streams of linear specialty channels, similar to a traditional satellite or cable TV provider, but streamed over the public Internet, rather than a closed, private network with proprietary equipment such as set-top boxes.

Over-the-top services are typically accessed via websites on personal computers, as well as via apps on mobile devices (such as smartphones and tablets), digital media players (including video game consoles), or televisions with integrated Smart TV platforms.

Objective:
To understand the viewer’s experience in viewing series/movies on OTT Platforms

Data Collection:
A survey was conducted among our classmates to understand their experience of viewing series/movies on different OTT platforms. The data collected is from 16 different individuals. Surveyors have rated the below OTT Platforms at a rate of 1 to 10 in Liner Scale:

  • Netflix
  • Disney Hotstar
  • Amazon Prime
  • SonyLIV
  • Voot

Data Analysis:

Hypothesis:
H0: All OTT Platforms are preferred.
H1: Any one of the OTT Platforms is preferred.
After applying One way Anova using Data Analysis in Ms Excel, following statistics is derived:
Calculated F: 8.97
Tabulated F: 2.74

Conclusion:

As calculated f is10.7191 and tabulated f is 2.4936. Since calculated f is greater than tabulated f, we can derive that any one of the OTT platforms is preferred by the viewers. Hence, we will reject H0 and accept H1.
