Introduction :

Innovations in society change us either for good or bad. Most however are double edged and bring with them both positive and negative effects to society.

Cell phones are no different and their effect on our society has been drastic to say the least. There are many benefits that have been occasioned by the invention of mobile phones and have made life easier and better.

Some of this includes facilitation in the acquisition of knowledge through mobile internet, enhancing communication because of their portability and increase trade and employment.

There are several negative impacts to society among them being death and injury due to accidents while driving, talking and texting on the phone.

OBJECTIVE:

This survey was conducted to get the views of people on how ready they think cell phones have had an positive or negative impact on their social life.

VIEWS AND REVIEWS:

Cell phones have also changed the way that people interact with each other. When we call someone, we are actually calling the person and not a place. This enables us to be more spontaneous when making plans as you rarely get a busy signal and unlike a land line telephone, someone is always home. Cell phones also enable us to call if we are going to be late for an appointment, although this has led to cell phone users running late more often than those who do not have cell phones. These users seem to have adopted the attitude that appointment times are not concrete and use their cell phones to renegotiate their arrival time.

One of the greatest disadvantages of the cellular phone is the fact that we do not talk to strangers when traveling anymore. In the past, several people waiting for a bus would engage in a conversation while they were waiting. People who traveled the same routes every day might develop friendships along the way. This situation does not happen anymore. Today when people are waiting for a bus, they just pull out their cell phones and speak with old friends, missing out on the opportunity to make new ones. In large cities, many people do not know their neighbors, even though they may have lived in the same neighborhood for years. As a society, we are beginning to lose the face-to-face contact that was such an important part of our lives in the past.

Cell phones are a great asset in aiding in our every day lives. You should remember, however, to hang up every once in a while and pay attention to the world around you.

Data Collection :

To satisfy the objectives of the study, qualitative methodologies alongwith quantitative techniques were employed. This study is descriptive in nature. Standard Deviation= (∑(X-X ̅)2)/(N-1)
Standard Error= (Standard Deviation)/(√N)
Z= (X-0)/(σ/(√N))
If Z > 1.96; Statement is accepted
If 1.96 > Z > -1.96; Statement stands neutral
If Z < -1.96; Statement is rejected

Conclusion:

Open ended questions also revealed important information. People use mobile phones in academic as well as professional environment just for fun and to show their status. Some use mobile phones as FM radio others to listen music some play games. This is the reason they lack understanding of proper use of mobiles. Using mobile phones in classroom need to be strictly banned as it spoils the main purpose of education.
And can also be concluded that more and more use of mobile phones has decreased the desire of people to meet each other personally, now everything is chat, messaging or calling, because of which level of face to face meeting has reduced drastically.
People are very keen in using mobile apps and other services in their routine life
